hey guys, we all know that the I.T.R box is shorter, and has an lsd , but has anyone swapped a gsi or vtir box to a type r box?

-what type of gains did you get?

-did the 1/4 mile change?

-does a lower final drive help even more - and how much?

-is the gsi box the same ratio as the vtir box?

Any coments would be great...ta

Gains will be immediately noticable in acceleration, how much exactly? I don't know but it is a very worthwhile mod for improving acceleration.

ITR final drive = 4.7xx
VTi-R = 4.4
GSi = 4.2ish

Sorry I can't quite remember exactly right now. An even lower final drive for an ITR box is available too.

i do know that 8800 rpm in 4th does 220kph with my gsi box ..... thats way too long!

so the pro's of having a shorter box is that you keep in high revs while changing, and have more acceleration.
i guess it would be optimim to try and change gear at your top rpm back into the around 5800 rpm (vtec point)

and can someone explaine exactly what the values of the bear box ratios mean? ie

4.2 / 4:2 final drive etc....

for gear ratio information i made a nice spread sheet for well some of the more popular hondas..

you can change the values like shift RPM and types of Gearboxes you use.. and final drive.. including taking into account tyre size..
