hey,

just wanted to ask a question, (sorry if this sounds dumb, as im still sorta noob) but if i was to put CTR camshafts into my B18C engine and change some other things like valve train n stuff, would vtec still engage at 4400/4500, since the B16's engage at 5500/5800????

thanx

vtec engagment is ecu dependant, ie. changing to ctr cams will not affect vtec crossover point, how ever optimal cross over point may be higher in the rev range for different cams for example toda spec C crossover is supposed to be optimal at around 7500 rpm for a b16a as opossed to standard cams which engage at 5500

Is your vtecing engaging at 4400/4500?? ahahahahahah....are you sure its v-tec kicking in? V-tec generally kicks in around 5800.

Unless you have a vtec controller to change your vtec engagement, it seems like there something wrong with your car.

Vtec will still kick in at "5800 rpm" with CTR cams.

Vtec engagement would N O T change if u put in CTR camshaft. The ECU is the unit/device use to control the vtec engagment.. if u get an aftermarket ECU u can then adjust ur vtec point... For stock car it shuld be around 5800rpm...

i guess the onli good point abt putting CTR camshaft is that it would make power all the way to 8600RPM! :p

umm.... sorry but BeeH is right. its the dual runners which open up at 5800 on the B18C2 and vtec at 4400.
check the diagram on the first page of this thread: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42242

not all engines have the same vtec crossover

if you do decide to put in CTR cams a vtec controller would be a good idea so as to make sure you are achieving the optimum crossover point...............short of getting a new ecu

jimmy, his vtec is at hte right point. 4500 sounds right for a b18. anyway, BJ. i got some for sale. and no, it doesnt change cross over point. i sold a set of these cams to Tony- RSP00N, so im sure you know what it sounds like . PM ME

if you read the title he said B18C2 and that's a VTi-R engine.

And VTEC is an electronically controlled thing, not mechanical.

what the. are you guys insane?

for a CIVIC engine THAT MAY NOT BE THE CASE, BUT FOR A B18C2, IT IS.
