Just thought i'd let you guys know I took the 06 up to wakefield on friday open practice day.

Was very impressed with the car overall. Tyres and pads were not up to extrem driving but the chasis and steering were exceptional. Practically no understeer for a stock car is amazing. Obviously there was heaps of roll on the 2nd gear corners but anyting 3rd gear was ok.

Doing 1:22's - 1:24's the car could easily keep within the best lines but when I went for it and hit pb of high 1:20's pads and tyers only lasted 3 laps.

Was last minute trip cause I'm on leave atm and didn't bring camera or anything. Might buy the pics that wakie takes though and post that up.

I've heard of Euros doing 1:18-1:19's......i'd put that down to better tyres on the euro (better driver?....hahhahah). Some one correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm come'n back with new tyres after the tyres were out......will defly get top spec tyres/pads.

Just a not for you guys that are thinking of tracking be prepared to see the nice new caliper look go to an off oxides grey look ..........the brakes were smoking badly by the end of each session. Will be changing brake fluides at 10,000km service.

Anyone know if we run the same pads as typeS or anything else out there?

Rick Bates was there doing some practice as well. He was laping in low 1:06's..........hhhaha fark that corolla was eating up everything on the track.

if the 06 did 1:20 then im pretty impressedmust be a pretty good driver
just as a comparison with a stock ek4
i did a 1:19 with full stcok trim and stock pads
only mod would be potenza g3 195/55

i feel a bit threatened by the new civic now!

I really hope the Si coupe comes to australia. Theres alot of good engineering put into this platform.

Anyhow I'd thought i'd let you guys with an 06 sport know theres a fair bit of fun to be had with this model sedan.

As for my laptime, I've been a few times now to know what line to take. It's nothing special, I'm sure a realy good driver can milk 1:18's out of it as is.

Out of curiosity, has anybody got a top speed on the Civic Sport?

yup..........it had 4987km on it before first warm up lap on track.

"lap fast or die trying y'all"........hahhahh :D

The car manual suggest that theres a speed limiter of 180km/hr but that's not true care of hume hwy near macathur. I didn't get a chance to max it yet but it could easily get up to 190km/hr. When I was gunning it I wasn't intending to find out what top speed was hence i stopped at 190, doh should have remembered to go all the way.
