Hey guys, just a few questions...

I've been looking at some CRX's and I have found one that is fully imported 1996 model with elec roof n stuff, my issue is the engine code is B15B is this normal?

It's SOHC VTEC but don't they come in 1.6 DOHC VTEC? If they didn't come out as B15B why would anyone remove a 1.6L DOHC and replace it with B15B SOHC?

Thanks in advance

i think u read the engine code wrong.

no such thing as b15b.
the engine code would be d15b. a sohc pos.

in jap they release the del sol with electric tarage and most came with d15b stock

all australian delievered non electric targa del sol came with b16a stock

Interesting it must have been a typo on the reg paper.

Are the D15B much cheaper then the B16A? Or relatively same price?

D15B does mean it's a 1.5L yeah?

d15b is worth 300bux.
b16a is worth 3 times more.

yea, the number's represent how much litres the engine has.

What Zelda said. ^^^^

Get an Aussie delivered one. Who cares about the electric roof. You can take the roof off manually in 5 seconds anyway. Just depends on what you really want.

yeh just get the aussie spec one, i've heard that the electric roofs have problems, and u dont wanna have to replace it on a car that is already rare

D15B SOHC Gen3 CRXs are imports from Singapore as far as I know - but makes me wonder if thats meant to have a D16Y???

It could say D15B for a reason ?

I meant is there much difference in prices between the car itself?
Like 1.5L CRX and the 1.6L CRX of if prices are very similar cause one had manual roof and one has elec roof etc...

if its got an electric roof you'd expect it to be a B16A - JDM DEL SOL SIR (import). They are worth more than a normal DOHC gen3 and more than a SOHC gen3.

That's why I'm having major trouble getting my head around it. If it's a JDM SIR why does it have the 1.5L engine?

It’s not a SIR if its 1.5L engine they are either bulshitting you or they have no idea what they are talking about. SIR IS THE B16A 1.6L DOHC VTEC

Most of the imports I’ve seen with the electric Targa have been the SOHC VTEC not SIRs

I would be avoiding the electric Targa anyway they cost a fortune when they go wrong (which is often) and you have to import parts from Japan to fix them. I had a friend where the Targa broke and it cost him $800 just parts alone.

Plus they weigh quite a bit more than the standard one.

Honestly it’s not worth the wank factor of electric roof.

It's not the budget I'm worried about it's the resale value as someone would like to trade it in and nah it's not advertised anywhere.

Apparently it adds extra 150kgs to car. Personally, i wouldnt go for it, and im glad i didnt

It really depends if you're a 'show' or 'go' type of a person. If you like the idea of an electric roof and it doesn't bother you that it adds weight then why not?
