i htink the jist is not that teh 1.8 is BETTER, but for the price diff in australia of 20K vs 30k i think the 1.8 is way more bang for your buck
think about it... for 10k u could get full suspension, or a turbo kit and rape the 2.0. But then i havent driven em so i dont know

for what it's worth even the civic vti is a great car. better than any of it's competitors in the market.
for a daily i wouldnt bother with anything more than a vti unless i had the extra 10k spare just lying around
(on that note if anyone has a spare 10k lying around u can send it my way;))

The curtain airbags and the sunroof did it for me.
So I chose the sport. :P Sure, I could have bought a Honda Euro for the same price, but I'm not after performance. For me, the Honda Sport was just the right balance between indulgence (leather seats, sunroof, reasonable performance) and fuel economy. The only reason I didn't buy the Euro Luxury was it guzzles 10L/100km of premium unleaded and I thought the Civic was a better '1 person' car.

same as tanalasta, the leather, sunroof, 4 additional airbags, 6-stack in-dash mp3 player, paddle shift and more torque convinced me to get the sport. but the vti, as a base model, i agree is quite a kickass car - not much else can compare to it.
The VTi is good value- the VTi-L (which I bought) in hindsight, wasn't really that much of an improvement over the VTi... but it's what they had in stock (in black) at the time. The Sport model seemed a bit expensive for my budget ($5k more for not much more power) although if I had the cash, I think the leather, sunroof, paddle shift and more torque would've done it.
