Ozhonda upgraded and other important information.

First things first you've probably noticed that we have the default vB template .

Reason being is that i've upgraded to the latest stable version of vB and in the process of re-uploading a fresh copy of the template. But this isn't a priority. Having the site back up is.

Things to note since the site was last running:
1. The vBgarage has been removed.
2. The Gallery has been removed
3. The Arcade has been removed.
4. Smiles are missing - I'll be working on this over the next few days.
5. Some avatars are corrupted - this happened during the upgrade and you will have to re-upload your avatar.

All of the above has been in order to reduce the chance of there being security holes and it also makes upgrading a lot easier as all of the above were 'hacks' not supported by vBulltin. I have all the pics from the gallery stored on CD so I will upload the pics (as a lot of the DIY pics were stored there).

Changes to look forward to:
1. Attachments will be enabled for ALL users as a substitute for the gallery.
2. No new user registrations till 28 June 2006. New registration will be enabled again after this date BRIEFLY so get in quick after this date!

3. No registrations (or changing your current email address) to one from a free email provider (such as hotmail/yahoo etc). This is so we can stop users randomly signing on and so we can track/report activity/abuse easier. All ISPs provide users with an email address and you can use this.

We are going to focus more on building a community rather than have an influx of new members such that we can control the direction of the site. I'd like the focus to be on quality not quantity.

I will be updating the little differences since we were last running bit by bit in this thread.

While the actions of that cliche individual should not be condoned, there are lessons to be learned here from the posts made in the hidden forums in OZH.

I go on other car forums too and there seems to be a lot of negative connotations about this site at times from both honda owners and other car owners of other Japanese manufacturers.

I think this should be a fresh start for everyone affiliated with this site and improve the image of OzHonda and prevent a repeat of this unsavoury incident in general.

Valid points however the moderators forum isn't meant to be a 'secret' forum. IT is a place where moderators can discuss things and then present the solution when there is a dispute. That site didn't look at any of the other things we do in the moderators section about the rules/guidlines that mods have to follow and how we vote on issues when in order to come to a conclusion. Most forums have a seperate section for mods.....and we are no exception.

StOo, I have had no other spam other than the offer to join the other forum (ie one email only). I would suggest adding a good email blocker so that that sort of email goes straight to junk.

You won't have to change your email address.

However for users who register new or anyone who wants to change their email address as of NOW......then they will be affected.
