A few days ago, i lowered my euro. it seems fine for a few days, until i found my rear right tire was flat. I then change my wheel into the OEM one, until my aftermarket wheels are fixed. When it is fixed, i put it on back again, and the noise came. everytime i pass an uneven road or tram tracks, there is a noise from the rear right. I've checked my springs and it seems to be in the right position. I haven't got the chance to bring it to my mechanic again. it would be better for me to fix it myself if i can, coz i'm kind of tight on money at the moment :) can anyone help?

Rear right? Hmm, not sure then. If it was the rear left, then it would be the infamous parcel shelf creak. Checked your suspension?

posssssssibly be a wheel balance of some sort ?

What spings are you using?

At the moment, the only reason I can think of is that the coils are knocking against each other...

If that's the case, wrapping the coils with rubber will stop the noise...

It's just one of the many possibilities... :)

aarong, dont think its my suspension, coz my car only got about 8500 kms on the clock, and just been lowered not more than a week ago

butso, wheel balance maybe a possibility, but before one of my tire was flat, there was no creaking noise

aarong, i'm currently using a cutted eibach spring. my friend also mentioned the rubber wrap, but why does it only knock each other on the right hand side only, and not the left hand side??

what i can think of is the spring does not placed properly since i jacked up my car to replace my tire before, so they somewhat hit the suspension or something when they need to compress. is it possible??

Can I ask why you are using cut springs on a $35k+ car? Saving a few hundred bucks is not worth it IMO considering the danger and the fact your car is no longer roadworthy.

Hey how low is the car now?

And did you get a 4 wheel alignment after the car was lowered? It could be rear right needs adjustment and it is causing scrubbing if it is very low and the rim is wide or odd offest.

Also check the links on the sway bar are tight. Not sure who did your lowering so they may have fiddled with it.

I had the same problem last time when i use cut spring & lowered 10cm. When i change to new spring (no cut) the sound is gone. I think the problem is like what yfin said (I use 19x9.5 with +32 offset).

yfin, my car is still road worthy, its not that low .. still can fit a can of coke under. when i went to my mechanic, i ask him whether to cut or compress my spring, and he said cut is better, eventhough the ride comfort will be sacrificed. the mechanic is someone that i can trust, since he has done many cars for autosaloon.
thanks for your response guys .. i'll have a look at the car as you guys had suggested

Cut springs are illegal no matter what height it is. You're endangering yours and our lives by driving on them.

Cut springs are fine for Autosalon as some of those cars are lucky to be driven 10 meters a year and it's a show so it's legal.

I used to think coilovers were too uncomfortable for the road, but I was proven wrong when I rode in an Euro with Tein Flex's. So if you can afford it, go for coilovers.

Strange why he didn't suggest new springs of the height desired! Anyway your mechanic should be more careful - he is asking for trouble IMO if you were involved in serious accident with cut springs.

Definately consider coilovers mate.

i'm seriously thinking of getting the coilovers now coz the ride is very uncomfortable and it starts to annoy me :)
but due to money problem, have to think someway to get extra bux to get genk's coilover

I've just got my car back from being lowered (~30mm on pedders sportsrider springs) and am noticing the same problem.

Can anyone suggest a way to try and pinpoint the noise while stopped?

Should I take it back to the mechanic and have them resolve it?
