Rolling at 20km/h and hit a 4WD's tow bar...look at the result. 4WD came out with only a cracked rear indicator.

No wonder Civic's are expensive to insure. When they're in an accident they crumple.

That's a good thing. Also hitting a towbar on a large 4WD is like hitting a 3tonne concrete wall with all the pressure focused on a 4x2cm surface area.

your car crumbling in a crash is a good thing... If your car ever rolled and didnt crumble you'll most likely keep rolling.

surely is a good thing. car crumbling is better than you crumbling, that's y cars have a crumple zone.

I'm thinking more like $5500. Cost $1500 to get a dent in my drivers side door fixed last year

Correct, crumple zones are designed to absord the impact so that the car will decelerate slower, hence causing less injuries to you.

Even if the 4wd didn't have a tow bar, your car still woudl've copped a lot of damage. Your car is lower so it'll take more damage. The towbar just makes things worse since it's basically sheet metal vs solid metal.

I'd rather bits fly off the car.... and take percentages of kinetic energy with them as they do. :)

exactly right. Rather something replaceable take the brunt of force instead of your head caving in !

a while back i had an accident in my EG Breeze i hit smoeone at 100km/h and the civic held up really well there strong cars, i think u would have to be going faster than 20kmh man your of ur ****.

u bet you 90% of small cars would look exactly the same.

buy some ones left over eg6 front cut/nose and get it fitted on and painted.

cars are designed to crumble these days for safety issues.

would rather have a crumpled bonnet than a crumpled skull :)

I hit a van with a towbar doing about 45/50kph while merging in traffic. Had to replace the bonnet and one headlight on my EH and that was about it. The van had a bit of white paint on his tow bar courtesy of my car and that was about it. He didn't even worry about insurance info or anything, and i fixed mine myself for $350 :)

Nah. The car is fully insured and being repaired. Now that I will be getting a new bonnet and bumper that was heavily scratched b4 hand I be selling the Civic soon after and buying a Renault Clio Sport :)

I still remember my TA23 turbo'd Celica being rear ended by a EG6 at 60km+.

My '76 Celica had it's rear bumper pushed in and the panel behind it squashed as well as minor RH rear 1/4 damage.

EG6 was a writeoff.

Both of us walked away from it.

Got me a nice respray out of it though,
