View Full Version : [Euro] Honda Rear Spoiler?

Is the rear spolier that appears on the Honda Website a genuine Honda item manufacturered in Japan, or is it made for Honda by another manufacturer?

The reason I ask, is that when we bought the car we asked for a genuine spoiler and tow bar. The tow bar has Honda branding on it, but the spoiler doesnt... it says 'Bodyline.'

I have noticed that our LED lights in the spoiler seem less bright compared to other cars on the road. As well as this, we have already had one spolier replaced, due to the paint peeling off back to the plastic (about the size of a 50 cent coin)

Any advice appricated before we go back and blast the dealer for not giving us what we asked for.

bodyline from memory are a supplier of spoilers to car dealers.

Your spoiler is a non genuine one.

most parts of ur wuro are made from many different manufactures... honda designed the specifications and give contracts to various companies to produce and " which meets the manufactruer standard". and honda then assembles the car to what u have now ....

Someone who has the OEM spoiler, please check if you have the Bodyline tag on it as well.

Yeah, that would be great thanks!! The tag is on the underside of the LED light... about 20mm long.

There has been discussion on ozmazda.com about how the Cruise that you by from Mazda Aust. is made by a company in Brisbane, and has been prone to fail... as this part is the 'Mazda' genuine part oredered throught the dealer, is it considered OEM?

Wrong

There is genuine and there is non genuine.

If a part is not made by Honda it is aftermarket and there is no grey area on this topic.

It is irelevant if the part is preferred or non preferred or recommended or non recommended or dealer approved or honda approved or any other marketing mumbo jumbo.

A genuine Honda spoiler from memory has honda embossed on the LED.

A genuine spoiler is probably the best part of 1000, a bodyline spoiler woudl be 120 + 100 to spray and fit by the dealer's favoured panel beater

Thats why you have a bodyline spoiler.

Yeah, if you asked for genuine Honda and didn't get it, go back to the dealer. The Euro looks better without a rear spoiler anyway...

Same here, I think the stock one looks ugly.

Although this one looks neat:

It's nice but IMO too big for lip spoiler. Spoon is the best but expensive.

euro1978: You are correct. I have an OEM boot spoiler and it does have the Honda logo on the LED lens, along with some other codes. As far as I can see there is no other labelling anywhere else on my spoiler.

JeffyG, it is time to go back to your dealer and demand the original spoiler. Tell them that you were promised the Honda OEM spoiler and this one is not OEM as it does not have the Honda logo on the LED. You can print a picture of the OEM wing from another dealer if you need to (I bet most of the Euro with rear spoilers at your dealer would have a bodyline one).

JeffyG - it would also help if it's specified on your contract of sale. If you are indeed getting your Bodyline spoiler replaced with an OEM Honda one, also make sure the dealer replaces the boot springs as well.

As I understand it, the OEM spoiler is supplied with heavier duty springs to help hold the boot lid open due to the increased weight of the spoiler.

Let us know how it goes with the dealer. The warning signs were there when the paint was peeling the first time. Good luck!

well what i meant was that honda does not set up a factory to produce spoilers or side skirts... they assign certain companies to produce parts for honda with authorization. that's why those companies can emboss honda mark on the products... like enkei rims with honda marks on...
