You have an ek9? You sure you got a Civic Type R?... :p

Rear speakers are 6x9's
Front speakers are 6", 6.5" will fit as well but may require some modifications.

Thanks mate, can i trade in the point for cash? :p
I've managed to rack up a few points here and there.... lol

Anyways back on topic

The rear speakers grilles pop off quite easily with a flathead screwdriver.
Front speaker grilles for Ek1 (Cxi and Gli), Ek4 (VTi-R) as well Vti (don't know the chassis code.. lol), are also easily removed. EK9 (Type R) has different door trims, so i can't comment on the dificulty of taking off the grilles to replace speakers.

The main thing that i'd be concerned about is the mounting depth, there isn't much space there to mount a speaker that has a big magnet. So you might need a spacer or custom pod.

just wondering if its possible to just cut the stuff inside the door so the aftermarket speakers would fit?

yep thats what i did cut the holes bigger and made more room for the magnets. my 6.5" fit behind the stock grill still.

Yeah i've done as CTR Coupe has done but it actually is illegal to cut any metal in the car.

you could do a DIY speaker mould as someone has done this

^^ woot! dat was me :p

yer, behind the ek speaker grills (ek9, wotever, all the same) you can cut out the plastic to fit a bigger magnet. but remember that the window actually comes down quite far might hit the back of the speaker if you put a fat magnet in there. I had massive magnets on my 6.5" alpine type r splits, so i gave my self a lil lesson in fibre glassing and built some pods, hehe. but yer, i only did that cos i really didn't wanna chop my doors. good luck anyways.
