horrid sound

My newly swapped in JDM B16a engine makes a sound like a diesel when idling. My old D16 did this also. Is it just a honda thing? did the swap with a basic servicing, like oil and coolant a stuff like that.

Does it need a more thorough going over, and will the noise stop.

the motor has only done 95,000 clicks.

like a "tapping" noise from the head at idle ?
Try a valve-clearance / tappet adjust...coudl do wonders to tighten up loose clearences

yeah i was thinking tappets, i need to do one, my mechanic wants to do one next time i pop round to him.

good to here it isnt so sinister like i was thinking,

the engine was sitting for over 2 years, but was in top shape
