i custom done the box but its too small i think.its more of a shallow mount box. its ported now but i just slaped it in i havent tuned it just yet. i made it to 10" specs of the fusion powerplant one

i custom done the box but its too small

if its too small, make a bigger (more optimal) box.

heres a quick sub+bigger box VS small box comparison (strictly talking about loudness/db).
smaller: sub needs MORE amp power to b as 'loud' compared to a 'optimal box'
bigger: doesnt need AS MUCH amp power compared to a smaller box to go loudly, but too big a box may make ur subbass 'sloppy'

got specs of ur sub & box??

looks like ur keen on gettin the most db out of ur system, so ur planning on entering SPL comps??

box size is all about compromises..

box size is all about compromises.. the bass of it is sharp not sloppy, i guess. the sub is 12". box length is 500<->, 300 deep and 250, and 450 width. (mm)

Termlab is the software and meters that are used to check how many DB's your system is putting out.

f.prelude, youve got the dimensions of the ur box so work out the volume urself. we'll need more details/specs of ur sub if u want a opinion on whether ur current box is 'optimal' for UR 12".

is ur box sealed, ported, other??

r u happy with the current sound??

is this system gonna b used for daily use OR for SPL comps??

fusionprelude

its ported
its ok i want more bass out of it
it is used for both

hmmmm theres toooooo many variables to discuss, as mentioned. sounds like youve got bitten by the 'car audio bug' :p

youve only got a 400rms amp, thats nots gonna do much in da SPL scene. mayb its time for an amp upgrade OR amp+sub+subbox upgrade.. ur choice.. :)

"it is used for both"

If its already used for both, shouldnt u be able to know ur SPL score?
Or do u mean u are going to use it at an SPL comp?
If u are, why not go to an SPL comp, get it run, see ur number then work from there..

If u want more bass, make a different/larger box, with larger ports, a more powerful amp, and u should be good.

dunno, but if you are a member of CAA check out the NSW forum, FHRX Studio is having a comp soon, will be running SQ and SPL, cheap entry for SPL too I hear, will be worth the drive.

wot sound places have spl readers in newcastle or central coast

ask autobarn they have it in some store almost every week, if weather is good.

got out of 2 pioneer 12" 1000w subs, with 7100 mono amp 136 db, was 2nd result in category.
open class was bloke with 2 15" got 150.5 i think;)

130 is very good for 1 sub, but you need speaker setup for at least 800 so bass and treble sound good together;)

hmmm maybe build 2 boxes?? like have one built for daily use, n the other for SPL use. if u have 1 box thats doing both duties, then most likely it wont sound good cus, obviously, daily use & SPL are different things.

would u upgrade ur gear?? or would u like to stay with the gear u have??

i hav made a dual box which is bigger and the sound is a bit better
