hi guys,

im thinking of getting a new front bar for my car, i was wondering if the ap2 front bar is a direct fitment on the ap1?

would i need to modify any thing? are all the mounting points the same? headlight shape exactly the same?

has anyone done this before?

any idea on the price of the ap2 front bar?

cheers,
will

Nope, by what I've read, you have to cut away some of the support in behind the AP1 front bar to make the AP2 bar fit.
Join up at s2ki.com, and have a good search around :)

It will be a direct fit...pretty much.
However, you'll need some new mounting locations (if I remember correctly).

My mate has done it and he had a few issues which I can't remember, only 'cos I wasn't really paying attention :p

Believe it or not, the front bar costs less than the lip ;)
It'd be best if you rang Honda and get a quote, or try your luck at wreckers, but I'm doubtful any wreckers in Australia would have any used front bars.

Good luck with it all.

direct fit onto the old mounts, the only issue is the splash guard under the front bad is different and the new one can be bought and directly mounted or u can mod the old one, there's a write up on s2ki about it...go and join up and search it!

if you want AP2 head lights u have to make custom brackts to mount the AP1 ballasts cos they are bigger then the AP2 ballasts, also enlargen some hole...its all in this write up go read it.

it will fit though you probably need to shave the corners of the bumper support so that it wont damage the new bar and allow better clearence

awesome.. i dont mind shaving off bits of the support bar etc.. as long as it still does the job.

yeh.. the lip is extremely expensive for what it is.. so i thought i might as well get the new front bar, it just makes it look so much better.

the link was very helpful ludecrs, looks like its a do-able DIY, thanks for that.

thanks for all the info guys, much appreciated!

the front bar is a striight fit. i did it bout a month ago. the mounting holes don't all line up, just two on either side but the rest fit perfectly. the only thing of concern is the moulding that slip under the headlights are fatter on the new front bar but they can be squished in underneath if u don't upgrade the headlights. other then those things there was no need to alter anything

All you need for the mounting holes is the front bar 'rea' which is like $60... and the gay ass headlight washers from the older front bar are on a curved surface... the new bar mounting is a flat surface, so fitting them back on can be a P in the A. and the new front bar looks shithouse unless you get the front spoiler as well :D

i got the jdm front bar so i don't have the headlight washers.
if u buy the front bar from aus, does it have the washers installed?

I believe it is a necessity by the ADR (Australian Design Rules) for all cars that have HID headlights from the factory.
As to it's function, beats me.
I hardly use it.

yeah its crap, sprays too much water firstly and is also easily pretty from stupid passengers with their long arms and unco elbows! Jimmy just go to the small fuse box under the hood and take the fuse out and you'll be set!

I replumbed the washers as an intercooler spray.
