Hey every1,

Last week i serviced my car properly and also changed my transmission oil...My friend and i did it at his workshop on the hoist, as the original fluid was coming out it was a red colour, my mate laughed and said "the dipshit who owned this b4 u put automatic transmission oil in it" but yeah now i put "castrol vmx80" in it....and now when i change gears from 2 to 3 at a high rev, it really crunches....this has never happened before.....have i done something wrong??

Honda Manual fluid is also redish, so I have doubts it was auto fluid in there.

I think its more like a problem with the synchros - maybe its time to change them, and get a new clutch while you are at it. My Synchs needed replacing at around 150,000km

put honda MTF in there.
otherwise if its isa syncro problem, the americans like GM Syncro Mesh. Its a fluid.

I just changed my MTF and Honda MTF is not red at all. It's a pale yellow.

Had another look just then and you are right it is quite yellow when thin.
Its confusing cause looking into the container, it goes red the deeper you look down with light passing through the clear strip on the side.

Anyways yeah put Honda MTF in there and see how it goes. Hopefully the auto fluid didnt muck up the synchros.

my 2nd gear is crunching when the clutch is cold. would that be due to fluids?

my 2nd gear is hard to get into.

i have to give it a little rev. to down gear sometimes.

anything fixable?

When is the last time you changed your transmission fluid? Also, when was the last time you flushed your clutch fluid?

Synchros? Or just double clutch when downshifting into 2nd.

it dosnt grind or anything

its just like trying to put it into first while moving.

just dosnt do it.

i just tap the revs to about 2k and it goes in.

if it needs to be rev matched then its prob a syncro issue.

It cost me over $1000 to get my gearbox reconditioned, new synchros etc.. then another $600 for a new clutch + labour. (I got the whole thing done all at once)

Glad it wasnt an Auto box ;)
