sorry to be asking these questions but i just got my dc2r a few weeks back and dont know wot is normal. ive also searched on the forums but nothing seems to answer my question.

I know that VTEC will kick around the 4000-sumthing RPM mark but I can only start hearing and feeling the VTEC at around 5400RPM. Is the VTEC still engaging at the 4000-sumthing RPM or engagin at 5400RPM?

Cam lobes changeover 4000ish, Secondaries at 5300ish which is the 'rush' and noise.

depending on ure car set up, intake, exhaust vtec cross over will be louder, softer some times.

If it is stock, you wont really hear or feel much, probably just more push after vtec.

initial vtec engages at 4500rpm, secondaries open at 5,800.

dont mix secondaries with vtec, but secondaries is the one that makes the noise and teh POWARR

thanks for clearing that up. so it's just a single cross-over ey. just a quick question... is iVTEC a variable cam timing where there are indefinate crossovers depending on throttle position or a pre-determined RPM point?

iVTEC is still a single crossover. But it can change the cam phasing throughout the RPM range.

He is saying that he's got a DC2R....type r doesnt have secondary intakes, only VTiR integras do.

you noObs!

vtec in the type r kicks in at 5800rpm, always has always does. dont get the vti r confused with the 'r'. the 'r' doesnt have a secondary intake either, its intake manifold has short runners with a large plenium chamber built for high rpm.
and dude, ur r is made to rev hard! enjoy vtec yO

-stock vtec will put you in your seat - especially type r's.

-where did you get your rpm engagements from man?

-the power comes from the whole set up - but more so vtec as more intake and exhaust gasses flow.
