Small problem with Idling speed

Hmm, my Jazz has clocked about 22000kms and recently it doesn't seem to idle as smoothly as usual when the engine is warm.

Suppose when i stop to stationary state while waiting for traffic lights, the idling RPM will initially be measured at about 800-900rpm and vibration is tolerant. However, after about 3seconds, RPM subtly drops again to something close to 500-550RPM and the vibration becomes more apparent. It idles like my old 7989 Camry. I've never seen my car idle that low before too. Used to idle at 800rpm all the time.

Also i noticed the sound of the engine idling seems slightly abnormal. It's like it developed a soft cricket/chirping noise. So, i'm wondering if it's something to do with the bearings or pulleys of the engine and hence maybe why my idling speed is a bit low???

I've already taken it to the dealer ship but the person who i was talking to says there's no problem. He claims that the sound is normal and doesn't see what's the problem is.


I rarely push the car and although i might have pushed the car up to 6k rpm but i never push it to the redline.

So any suggestions on what the problem could be?

Hmm...

what model/year? CVT/ Manual?
When you said Idling? In "N" or "D" with brake?
When was the last service?
Any mod recently?

22,000km - If CVT, any CVT oil change? Have you check the engine oil level?

Idling as in any state. That is, it's N or clutch in.

Get a second or third opinion from the other dealers..

Could be a number of things.

I would start with checking if your throttle cable is tight, airfilter and spark plugs are clean.
