Hello everyone...

I purchased some 18x7.5 rims...I'm still to purchase some tyres for it...

Initially i was thinking along the lines of 215/35 r18...but then after chasing down a few prices of tyres, a few guys at the tyre shops said that i should be getting 225/35 r18...

Now, its a much of a muchness i know...and either way, i'll be having to get the gaurds rolled/worked over anyway, because of the current ride height...

What was my question...hmm, i dont know...

What do you guys recommend...is there much of a difference...should i really be going for the 225's as to avoid having to strech the tyres too much...

Comments are appreciated...

215/35 18's will fit better, go with those. They will fit perfectly fine on the rims.

Thanks for the responce...

I am a little confused though...

As far as im concerned...the 225 would be a pretty much exact size diameter to the stocko wheels.

Stocko being 195/60 r15...which is a 615mm diameter...
the 18's tyre 215/35 r18...measures at 607.7mm...
the 18's tyre 225/35 r18...measures at 614.7mm

Please correct me if im wrong...but that would say that the 225's are the right one to go for...

I read somewhere that someone with 18's had 215's, so i just took that for granted...but then i was told 225's would be the better option...thus my confusion...

the offset i have for the 18's are +42...which is alright for the accord?

My issue with the gaurds will still remain...only because of my ride height...

As can be seen here...Unless of course the ride height won't be an issue?

I,ve had 225/35/18 on 7.5 inch rim with 40/42 offset for the last3 years and never had a prob with rubbing, it is now that i have 225/40,s that the rubbing starts.Stick with 225/35,s and you don,t even have to roll the guards and thats with 10mm of spacers on the rear for camber ajustment.

at your height, you definitely wont have trouble with the 215's...however on my accord (and yours will be similar at that height) 225's would rub at the rear and require guard work, and especially if you go lower. The 215's do not, and are within RTA rolling diameter specs (yes i did edit my post, after i realised i had remembered wrong :p ).

I just dont see any benefit of 225's over 215's to justify them, while there are possible downsides

yeah you make a valid point there...

Why go for the 225 when you will have issue with rubbing, whereas the 215 are legal, although not perfect diameter like the 225, but will avoid rubbing...

very good, i guess that solves that one...

I will however, still probably get the gaurds rolled, for good measure...and to save the possibility of having little chunks ripped out of the tyres...

Thanks for all the input guys
