Clean or replace your cold idle valve would be a good start, if that doesn't work take it to the mechanics to see if it is a sensor but I think it may be the idle valve.

Check to see if you have any vacuum leaks, a Bad Idle Air Control Valve or a bad Fast Idle Thermo Valve.

could be a vaccum leak.
unlikely unless you've been pulling things off and re-using gaskets- like a cheap skate (like me :)).
i went and sprayed carb cleaner around the gaskets and hoses till i heard the note change, thats where the leak was.
other things i've had screw up my idle are/were:
bad plug on idle motor, bad idle motor, dead o2 sensor and bad plug on the tps sensor.
i also managed to install my tb gaske the wrong way around one time... but we won't go there.

Honda mech told me its normal...
It does this most times the engine is cold and sounds bloody stupid when the noise is amplified and shot out in your garage....

FIND A NEW MECHANIC...How can a so called Honda mechanic say this.I have worked with Hondas for 17 years and this is definately not normal..as has been said before check your fast idle valve..if you take your intake pipe off the throttle body you will find a port located at the top left hand side of it..start your engine and put your finger over it..if car still runs then you have an internal vacuum leak caused by the fast idle valve..take no notice of any workshop manual as it says that they are not adjustable..THEY ARE and any GOOD Honda tech knows this..

have u recently flushed your cooling system? if so, have you tried bleeding the cooling system entirely, sometimes u get air pockets in the cooling system which will cause your car to idle very rough.
