sorry, i m bit newb. might sound stupid to some people lol

is there gauges that shows boost or something similar for non turbo's cars??
what are other available to NA?

**Ghost**

... before u get put into the new forum... gauges are used to monitor as u know the diagnostics of the car... a turbo car has everything an NA car has + a turbo

so no there isnt nething for NA cars specifically

All gauges except boost apply to NA unless of course you want to measure manifold vacuum, but please not on a Euro, lol

BusterSonic12
24-05-2006, 11:10 PM
yes i want a gauge :p i like those boost looking one, so it moves LOL
so what's the manifold vacuum? is that like a boost gauge?

water temp and oil temp/pressure guages. if you wanter to be flash you can go other ones such as air to fuel ratio and volts of the car if you are running hi powered audio gear. but the first few are the only ones you could use

crx88rb
24-05-2006, 11:13 PM
no wait dont do any of the above on a nice looking car like a euro :p

BusterSonic12

if you have something like a turbo then yes a boost guage is cool. if not and you dont like any of the other guages.....well you dont have many other options :p but they are the recommend ones. but its your car champ, if you want it get it

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I won't tell you!

It's the opposite of boost basically, some if not most boost gauges allow for negative pressure (vacuum). Please mount it inside the glovebox and out of sight!:p

BusterSonic12
24-05-2006, 11:19 PM
so what does the vacuum one looks like? just like a turbo one?

BusterSonic12
24-05-2006, 11:20 PM
is it really that bad??
and even if i get, i should get water temp and oil temp/pressure guages??
then i won't i ll save my money :P:P

hrmm defi would look good in a euro ..

um, on my vafc 2 it has a setting which shows pressure (of something) and throttle movement , looks wicked. C if you can find something like that on a regular gauge.

VAFC electronic display gauges rock :)

if u want something that moves up and down a LOT then i suggest revs and voltage and vacuum...

if u got money get that LCD screen thingie Blitz makes (sorry i catn remembre the name), which displays electronic gauges in a mini TV...

ok so this is what some guages look like in a crx. i took it with the flash on
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/9651/picture0133qv.th.jpg (http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture0133qv.jpg)

and without the flash. its blurry but you get the idea of what kinda light you would be getting
http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/97/picture0140gx.th.jpg (http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture0140gx.jpg)

but like i said whatever guage you get its up to you

Oil pressure goes up and down like a yo yo. that’s probably what you want. Goes from 25psi to 80psi depending on revs. I guess that meets your requirements.

i honestly dont see a F&^%$ING point its a accord euro.. "LUXURY" car not meant for guage and stuff like that.. its a classy elegant car dont ruin the image.. and make your self look like a idiot man.. a ricer is ok but a ricer who tries to rice a euro.. is plain notting but stoopid..

vacuum guages were kool, i nearly got one in my old civic, pretty pointless tho. a mate of mine has a vacuum stock in his old skool Camira. pretty wicked, but absolutely pointless. it moves depending on how much u push the pedal...

dont rice ya car up PLZ!

preludacris
25-05-2006, 01:23 AM
i agree and disagree with the ricer statements...

cheap and coloured dials look shit as ... and dont really look good in any car ... but i guess suit more ricer cars. some look aite tho i must admite

but for a euro, i would not disagree with putting defi gauges. the white or red styles would still look prestigeous for sure , depending on where u place them too..

kinda exxy but yeah.

im guessing all you want is a guage that looks flashy and moves around alot, true?
boost is the pressure built up from an exhaust driven turbine so the only gauge that would be even close to doing what you want is the manifold pressure guage.. which serves no purpose other than to rice-ify your beautiful euro
if all you want is guage that looks pretty and moves around just put a defi tacho.. defi's are prob the most "elegant" of guages

BusterSonic12
25-05-2006, 05:12 PM
YES!!! exactly what i wanted. So it's defi's manifold pressure?? and tacho?

try finding either, the defi tacho might be larger in size compared to the 2inch diameter guages. im not entirely certain.
the defi tacho will obviously do the same as your stock tacho so all it is, is a second guage doing the same purpose as one you have from the factory so i dont see the point. but at least it will move whenever you drive.
the manifold pressure serves no real purpose, it will actually move backwards (if youve ever seen the ones in the old crappy fords and holdens) it doesnt really react to your throttle movements the way a tacho or boost guage would, but nonetheless it moves.

what he said ^^^
and it would be kinda useful in a euro, if you got no pressure you aint gonna have an engine for long.

you can actually get a mid rocker gauge which measures the ratios of calibration from you exhaust gasses. i have one and it looks great. goes between -10psi to 75ish psi. moves as the gasses calibrate in the chamber.

they are on ebay at the moment for about $125.00
hope this helps

Hey mate, to be honest I'm all for doin what you want with your own car, like someone said before, a vacuum gauge would best fit your needs coz it moves with every touch of your accelerator pedal, to basically monitor air being sucked in by your intake manifold. Plus with the smoked gauges now, they're not visible until you turn on the car. here's a pic of mine

Bright as when car is on but invisible when off

just get a vacuum gauge. the negative reading on a boost gauge is vacuum.. i think

if u look hard on ebay, ull find vacuum guages that to the right when ur in vacuum.

Sounds like one of those guys who wants blow-off noise without the turbo. Similarly, why don't you just use a boost gage and take it to an electronics expert and get them to wire it up so the needle moves randomly. (This is as bad as gluing a Type R badge on.)

If you want a gauge, the best suggestion I can make is get a bling bling Tachometer. If you like bright lights, you can get one that has a shift light! The tacho will move "often" (assuming you actually drive the car) and it will actually have a practical purpose too.

If for some reason you wanted to pretend to have boost, you could take the gaugue apart and replace the writing with "Boost" and voila.

29-05-2006, 09:35 PM
yeh if u want guages that move get a vaccuum guage or an air/fuel ratio. most air.fuels hav a little coloured light that goes back and forth around the guage and vaccuum pressure will work 'sort of' like a boost guage if u like them. a boost guage has on it vaccuum then to positive pressure, so if u get a vaccuum guage it'll be like half a boost guage! just no boost pressure! which would be useless for u anyway! then just hav a look at different guages and see wa u look the look of!

'wank' factor aside - these gauges are actually very usefull. in terms of stock sensors - it can sometimes take a sensor a little too late to show up on the dash, that its low on oil or water temp is high.

when my top radiator tank was leaking, and temp was getting high my pillar temp gauge showed an increase in temperature to gangerous degrees before the 'stock cluster gauge' even moved.

I highly recommend to anyone to install these... not because they look pretty at night with all the lights on but because they actually do work!

19-07-2006, 06:02 PM
Yeah i wanna get water temp, oil temp, and pressure!! (oil pressure that is)

Not sure if to hide them or have them on the pillar??
They are totally usefull! I had a water temp in my ol sprinter and it awsome just to get an accurate reading espicially on hot days

How would you tap a line for oil temperature and pressure? Do you have to plumb in a temperature sensor into the sump and pressure sensor into the oil line?

SINISTR
20-07-2006, 12:11 AM
Not 100% sure off the temperature but I know the Pressure runs off thesame area where normal pressure sensor is: on the CRX its above the oil filter.

An oil pressure gauge should come with a sensor supplied.

It would be also possible to measure temperature off thesame area i'd imagine... but I think it could be tapped into the oil cooler pipe which runs through your radiator... can someone confirm this?

aaronng
20-07-2006, 01:18 AM
Just checked my service manual and found the pressure switch to use for the oil pressure gauge. But I still have no idea about where to plumb the temperature sensor.

i don't like water temp and oil temp/pressure guages. because they don't change really often, right?? correct me if i m wrong. i like boost looking ones lol

if you want to do it on ur euro, do it really properly dude.

oil pressure will move according to your accelerator being pressed (so yeah, it move really often) it's important too.
oil temp and water temp will come up slowly as the they r heating up.
hope this helps

Interested to see the end result.
So where are u gonna mount ur gauges man? Just watch out for those A-pillar and side air bags :P

Tobster
25-07-2006, 10:22 AM
Just be aware that in some states, mounting extra gauges in certain spots can be illegal in road cars.

If it affects the deployment of an airbag or comes loose or you can hit your head on it in an accident, then it's a big safety issue.

Check with local transport authority regulations first...

make sure don't mount them on the a-pillar, cops will hassle you according to the safety issue.
