Hi guys. Im looking at gettn a set of Tein SS(one's from fulcrum-australian version)but i need some answers before i fork out $$$. I dont wonna waste my money on somefing i end up regreting. My needs is for a daily driver, but gonna track it few times a year.

So, i just wonna know how comfortable the ride is on the softest settn, as majority of the time will be normal driving. ( if anyone one can compare this to koni yellow/eibach sportlines combo, it will be great as i have experienced this).

Also, how low do they go. Im gonna run 205/45/16, n i want the guards to sit a bit below the tyres. Can people provide pics with Em1 or Ek's on or near the lowest setting.

Any more feedback will be appreciated, either good or bad.
Just wonna make the right decsion.

Thanks guys!!

im interested as well as to what changes between d16 model and b16, as far as i know chassis is the same, and weight cant be that off, so im curious :)

_FerIO_,

Ive got 2 cars with coilovers, as far as lowering go, they can both be lowered to ridiculous heights (well for me at least), both can tuck the wheels under the guards. Keep in mind that the lower your car is, the harsher the ride ;)

I think you will be fine with the ride of the teins. Especially the fulcrum one, which is meant to be aussie based and is not as harsh as the jdm version. I havent seen the spring rates, but i think you will be happy with how it is.

People's opinions about what is a stiff/soft ride would vary as well, so having a ride in a car with coilovers will probably give you a better idea.

i have the JDM version on my EK1.. on soft settins... feels almost the same as stock ride... well maybe not... not its still very comfy... not harsh at all...
as for ride height... the front doest so as low as i want it to be...

i ll post pics up when i can find some

found it... here is the rear on the lowest settins.

then i raised it back coz its just too low...
and here is the height iwth rear around half way ... and front the lowest settins
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/nt_889/NickSunset.jpg

notice how the front is still not that low... i still not sure y ... the only explanation is that its designed for EK9. ie. the front of my car (d16y4) is a bit lighter then the b16b....

i even tried reinstall them .. made sure i didnt install them incorrectly ... and check all the springs... made sure i didnt mixed up the fornt and rear...

but yea.. this is my currect ride height.
cant complain... as they handle pretty well...

do you get negative camber when you lower ride height with the tein coilovers?

does the original car sit even??
because my em1 doesnt. the front sits about 1.5cms lower than the back.
maybe thats the reason why the fronts dont go as low as the back.

Ferio, I think that's a problem some EM1 owners have, front sits lower than rear, in stock form too.

do you get negative camber when you lower ride height with the tein coilovers?

strut/shock assembly does not play a part in the camber change when raising car height, its to do with the geometry in the lower and upper arms, their design, how they bolt to the chassis, etc. This is for double wishbone suspensions of course.

If you want to avoid camber when low, get some camber kits.
Ingalls/Skunk have front upper arms around 250-350 for the EK, prolly same price range for other models if they are available,.

Whiteline has rear camber kits. Basically washers that go to your rear upper arm and increase camber. Very cheap at 15 bux. Skunk has one too, not sure how much. JDMyard has the skunk stuff, and I got my whiteline rear kit off undergroundimports (trader section)

Thanks for the reps :D

Couple of traders here in ozhonda are selling the Tein SS, at least 4 from what i remember. Good competition = good price (in theory :p).

alot better info then what i could get out of bob jane.

If they dont specialise in hondas then usually they would only know general info about the car. I nearly didnt have a 99-00 facelift on my EK4 simply because the panel beater didnt believe me it was doable. I had to convince him for 3 days and also got him to call a Honda Service Manager.

So always get an opinion from a person who knows their :honda:

the weight of the engine makes difference on the front

I second that, ive installed Tein HAs on a Prelude (F22 SOHC 2.2 instead of the H22 DOHC VTEC 2.2 ), and the fronts couldnt go as low as was in the spec sheet.
