hey. i bought a hi flow cat from my local Exhuast specialist. hence i didnt think i would need my standard one, and gave it to a mate. 1 month later the exhaust place shuts down. Then straight up my new cat F*%ks up and i cant take it back, cause its no longer in business.

The cat squeels when the car is in idle - its really bad when the car is colder. the sound fades a bit when the car gets warmer. and you can hear it rattling when ur revving down low.

i cant get my old cat back off my mate. and i dont wanna buy another one!!! is gutting the cat an option??? or taking it off completly???

im from Darwin NT. its not illegal not to have a Cat here.

Gutting a cat is ILLEGAL.. but I do not disagree or agree to it coz I've done it before :P... Funny how NT is legal coz everywhere else isn't...

The exhaust gases will smell different. If you want to play safe, remove the honeycomb in the cat and run a pipe through it..

How many Kms have you done on the car since the new cat? I've got a high flow cat done before and it takes a while for it to do it's job, the first few hundred Kms was very laggy but after that, the lag was gone...

how sure are you that the sounds are coming from inside the cat?
have u had a look inside the cat to see whats rattling
best thing is to be sure where its coming from first

i had the same cold-warm problem for a day when my exhaust was sitting against the heat shield under the car ..

i am certain that it is the cat... i have had the car up on the hoists.. and when you rev the car... the squeels come directly from the Cat.

yeah ill think ill just remove it completly or put a pipe straight thru it.

thanks alot.

oh and can i clean a Apexi pod air filter with the K & N cleaning stuff???
