Hey guys, what do you think about an oil change for automatic transmission fluid at the 120k service?

I'd do auto transmission fluid change every 2 years or 60,000km. But it depends on how much you want to maintain your vehicle.

i'd do it, every 3rd oil change.
it's a bit of a overkill, but it doesn't cost much anyways.

i do it every 20,000km... according to acuramdx.org ... the transmission on MDX is really waek and the 260 HP is already the peak.limit for the transmission can handle...
so every 20,000km for me

Manuals are meant to have the tranny oil last until you experience a problem. Based on my new car experience, I'm going to change mine every 30,000km/2 years.

Manuals are meant to have it replaced periodically as well, its not just the auto's, but as said in an earlier post, you're meant to replace the auto oil at 120,000km anyway (unless its a latish model car).

My service manual unfortunately doesn't list manual tranny oil in any of the scheduled service. But I'm doing it anyway after seeing the gunk come out of mine.

I was watching the bestmotoring and the Spoon president recommended that you should change it every time you change your engine oil!
That's alittle too much for me but i was thinking prob every 20,000km should be fine cos i change my engine oil every 5,000km

I think he was talking based on Japanese enthusiasts, who always run to redline, go for track days very often, and exceed speed limits. If you track your car regularly (2-3 times a year like Spoon-san said), then a tranny fluid change every oil change is realistic since you have to do it after each track day anyway.
