Both are illegal...both look kinda ghey and both will suck plain hot air into your intake.

Best spend the $80 on a nice stocky replacement fitler , and about $15 for a good home-made CAI setup.

yea what bren said la!

just get a drop in panel (EGs use panel yea?) and DIY cold air feed!! even cheaper!

umm..thats the thing dudes..when i got the car...it didn't have the stock air box. It just has the stock pipe, and a open filter attatched to it.

with the new airfilter l'm gonna get on the top, l will have a heat shield surrounding the air filter, and a short hose connected where the resonatoir used to be. Theer is a hole on the side of my bumper which sucks cold air. (wus like that when i bought it)

the red pipe is made out of heat resistant material so yeah.

The first one looks perfectly legal, as it has a heat shield surrounding 70+% of the filter.

mate get a DC2 box and put a pod in there..

now that's legal... 8)

They are both perfectly legal providing the pods draw air from outside the engine bay, so like i said in PM just block off the side secton of the engine bay where the box used to sit, that will make them legal. If your buying them for looks your an idiot but i know your not coz they're what i described to you. The top one would probably work better as the bottom one seems to be more for asthetics.

The top one is an NA spacific designed CAI intake pipe. you'll get better performance and less lag from that pipe than stock. Thats also Simotas best pod on the end and its not too bad i hear.

The bottom one looks like a direct copy of the Js racing intake that is getting raved about on all of the US based forums...not that i like the look...

Thats a SRI :P

sorry to pick on your post mate....just had to clear it up.

cheers,

Oh ok then well didn't know about the otherone just seemed more for looks... the Top one is Definatly a NA orientated intake pipe though. Purly and simply because it has some where for the air too pool to reduce lag since NA engines draw Air in pulses. It just means the air is basicly being drawn from that enlarged section rather than from where the pod is or even from behind the bar. It only helps when you boot it. and it really does help I've tried both with an without the enlarged sections and Lag was reduced considerably enough to go... Fark, so simple.

But hey if the bottom one is a replica of a pipe thats doing wonders in the US go for that... My enlarged section is around my pod which is where you would block off that section of your engine bay so go with the bottom pipe since you've got that pooling affect anyway.

No you wont lose any power dude, providing it doesn't suck in any hot air from the engine bay.

yeh the bottom one may be slightly better but it looks like a heap of sh!t in real life.. i had it and sent it back cos i was embarrased to have it in my car..

i got the top one afterwards.

also read back what SIKCVC wrote.. what he said is spot on.

Here's a pic of the top one in my civic with a different filter on the end..

i've got the top 1 as well and i also got the extension u can buy that will fits into the end of the funnel thing

this is the part number: SIM-SI017 (comes in different colours and only work with that specific heat shield, i think)

its got a 90degree bend and den a flexi rubber pipe that can go down to about the front of the radiator. also comes with like a meshy type grill for the end of the flexi pipe

maybe u coud buy that as well and chop the flexi pipe and connect it to the hole on the side of your front bar
