Hi guys,
I'm in need of advice for an engine swap.
Firstly i have a 91 model civic (eg, hatch) and at the moment it is dual carby's. I have been wanting to undergo an engine swap for ages now, but things never worked out with the old folks. I now have the thumbs up to go ahead and swap an engine into my car, the only thing is i have a budget because i dont work as yet.
What engine should i settle on and what prices can i be expecting for each engine?
At the moment i have an exhaust, extractors.
How much would it cost for someone to drop the engine in?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks alot guys!

cost ya round 5-7k all together...l fink...
welcome new memba!!
Just get a B16A front cut since your under a budget
you also have rear drums aye? convert that to discs

Firstly, chuck a message in the Introductions section, and let us know of ya car and its mods and a few details about yaself :D Welcome to the forums too!
Ok so you want to drop a motor in.. Hmm.. I would (personally) be going for a B18 because they have a torquier motor than a B16. That said, I have driven a few B16's and found em hell fun when driving around because they rev like a bitch haha.
Personal preference dude, not sure about cost of a B18 swap (finding out now actually), but a B16 is roughly 5-7 as geo41e said :)
Good luck! :D

ok mate..
i also have a 91 civic hatch...with a carby aka EG BREEZE
i have recently done a engine transplant my self...to a b16a
there are lot of options with the engine..from
d16a
b16a
b18c
b18c7
h22a
these are sum of the engines that u can plant in to ur car..
b cuz ur car is a carby car u'll need to get EFI tank+pump or surege tank
but if ur doing this conversion by urself u'll b looking at about 5g's all up
but getting it done by a workshop you'll b looking at around 7g's + cuz of carby to EFi conversion
if ur in sydney u can try good performance..
anywayz just a quick run down.on the engines
d16a it's better than ur current engine but if ur after speed and acceleration dont look at this 1 cuz for a couple of more bucks u can get the DOHC VTEC engines..
b16a,b18c,b18c7
DOHC VTEC engines what people with non-vtecs or single cams convert to most
b16a 1.6L :makes li less power compared to b18c's but cost less. (well suited if ur on a budget)
b18c 1.8L :good bang for your bucks 7g's and u can have this engine in ur car and beat most cars on the road
b18c7 1.8L : ITR engine aka. integra type R engine. this engine is the best engine out of these 3 making more power compared to the b16,18
about 10g's for a ITR half cut id say 10+ for a complete conversion
if u have the dosh u wont regret it. do it if u can... :D
all of these engines in your car will give u great acceleration and balance
H22a 2.2L
this engine is out of an prelude VTIR
great power suited for a all out dragg car if ur after hard cornering as well this is not quite what ur looking for as it is a bit too heavy (engine)
10g's +
b20+b16a head
b20c out of a CRV and B16a head sum new crazy conversion this also is a very good performance package and with the right tuning u can pump out a shit load of power
not suitable if ur on a budget 10g's+
also you have drum brakes so u'll need to get it converted to disc and get the car engineered. also the front brake upgrade will b a good idea too
as the GL brakes wont b able to cope with the speed.
if u wanna know anything more dont just ask

What would you need to convert the discs? Rear discs? Rear callipers? Rear lower arms? Can the rype R rear fit onto a EK coupe? Stupid coupe comes with rear drums. Does upgrading the rear discs feel alot better?
Thanks.
