Going to Sandown Raceway on the 11th of June. It's my second time on track and I haven't heard of any lap times for Type R's or S2000's.
List
-Your car

So people can get a fair idea of what to expect or beat when racing on Sandown Raceway.

They run 2 WRX's
If you would like to enter go to www.wrx.com.au and got to forums/club motorsports

-download the entry form
-you do need a cams lincense
-if you dont have one you can apply for one and get a temp one from cams in malvern east.
-be quick if you want to enter

I was told there will be a few Honda's there and there is 50ppl already booked. There should be space available still.

How much does it cost to race all day?
I did Calder Park just befor Easter with some friend's, no lap times recorded.

For sprints, they vary from $120 - $250 depending on which club organises the track days. Obviously you must have a valid club membership and CAMS license.

I have a feeling this has been covered many times, you should search before asking.

Clubs are expensive and not many laps. Private rented track days are much better. Like when EXE Rented out Winton in March this year, We pay'd 120ish for track, 45 for license and 15 for timmer. End if the day I managed 47 laps I think. That is heaps! And we left at 3pm when it was on till 5pm. hehe
If Silas and EXE Crew host another track day in the near future and your interested in tracking, then make sure you go for it cos its the best value for money in track days.

Crap. Major oversteer issues. Spun 4 times. One time at 130km/hr under brakes into dandy corner. Spun out along the wall. Was very lucky just to scrap the front bar on the wall. End of the day was very disappointed in the cars balanced. Rear tyres were still cold after 4 laps which is all u got. Could not push the car hard at all otherwise I got sliding and spinning. Back had very little grip the whole day and only managed to get a 1:34.7 which was very shit, the car has so much more in it but the rear was all over the road while corning and braking. Mid corner speeds and 80% braking was all I could only use other wise the car would spin or slide. It was terrible. Once I fix the alignment and get the rear tyres to warm up better then the car could manage 1:30s easily.

BTW- Tyres were RE55S Semi-slicks.

what suspension are you running? I found that my civic oversteers way too much. I started to soften up the rear and that helped it significantly.

Also if you arent getting enough temp in your rear tyres, try putting a bit more air in.

Have you tried a slightly thicker front swaybar aswell? :)

Adjustable swaybars ftw!

TEIN HA With Adjustable Pillow Mount
Spoon Strut Bar
Spoon Front lower Tie Bar
Spoon Rear Lower tie bar
Whiteline 24mm Front sway Bar
Whiteline 24mm Rear sway Bar

Air temp was about 10 and the track was cold the whole day. 4 laps each session. Rear tyres werent even hardly warm. It was terrible. During the day I softened the rear shocks and stiffen up the front for less oversteer. did help a bit! then later droped PSI in rear tyres which also helped. The car was fully stripped ill show pics soon. Nuffin in the rear boot and only 1 Recaro in the front. Not enough weight on rear tyres would of also contributed. The car handled better with stock rear 19mm Sway bar. The setup on Sandown was way to twichy. SCARY as hell braking from 200km/h down the back and front straight.

what tyre pressure and spring rate you're using?

DC5TYPER
18-06-2006, 11:40 PM
40psi cold. Front and Rear. Then reduced the rear but dunno by how much!
Spring rates are 7 Front and 9 Rear.

40psi cold on RE55s? I'd say thats a bit too high. I usually try and get mine to about 35psi hot.

and yes. the the end of the back straight at sandown is scarey as hell :)

I would use 32 cold, 40 is way too high

DC5TYPER

I had 32 cold at Winton and it was great. But the bad thing was I was getting very bad wear on the outside of the tyres. I got 2-3degrees camber on the rear too. :( Anyway I didnt have a tyre pressure gauge on the day so I didnt know what pressure I was on or how much to let down. I bought a digital tyre pressure gauge and inflator for my next track day anywayz. Hope I dont have these problems next time around. Hope too see some of you guyz some track day soon. I was the only Honda amongest a crap load of WRX, GT-Rs and Evo's. Buy I was pleased with the speed of the car at the end of the day cos there were a few WRX and GTST that couldnt catch me down the straights  .

1:34 is not too bad, I did 1:36 with stock suspension on my DC2R. WRX days are cool, they have $1 BBQ for lunch. Their track days are always packed though.

True haha. Sausage and bread $1 Can of Coke $1, Hamburger $1. But 4 lap sprints is not enough. We did 7 lap sprints at winton which were longer lap times. Great day that was.

Maybe, ill let you know. Being in winter ill hate it to be cold and possible rainy. Its is a 3hr drive and it could easily turn into a waste of a day.

I'll be going to the HSCCV Winton meet in November for sure. All Hondas. Hope you guyz can come. It should be lots of fun.

1:31.65 pb. average around 1:32-33 pretty consistent give or take .5 of a second. mods are: k&n intake, exeedy uprate clutch, race bucket seats and running dunlop dz1 tires on a S2000. 1:02? the track record is 1:08 dude.
