looks like mega warm air intake smack bang next to the engine.

it could be the hot air doing it.

does it just have no power when u give it or does it actually choke and try to stall.

heatsoak is what they call it. Maybe you need to do a CAI to divert some fresh cool air from the front bumper into the engine bay (and make it so its like RAM style so the air gets pushed in, hence more cold air)

Building a heat shield alone won't make a huge differnce if its still going to be sucking in hot air from the engine.

sorry to steal...

Was havin a look around in my 7th gen today tryin to see if I could fit in a pod. I don't think our engine bay is really suited to house a pod, so I was thinkin about just getting a panel filter? Any opinions on the pros and cons of just a panel filter vs a pod?

Also, whats in the big black box to the left of the stock filter and engine, where the air flows through from the front bumper? Didn't manage to screw it off.

Any Ideas as to the best arrangement for a pod in a 7th gen civic?

high flow panel filter owns all un protected pods on metal piping. :thumbdwn:

get a K&N panel, take out front resonator(under from bumper) and replace with some large diamteter $5 plumping pipe from bunnings.

^^ best bang for buck mod.

too many ppl spend lots of money on intakes. you have to think, how much power do you REALLY expect to gain out of an intake? there is easier and more cost effective power to be made elsewhere.

no offence... but that setup u have there has got to be one of the worst...

alot worst then ur stock setup...

Does a high flow panel filter still give that nice sound? My friend says it will hardly be as noticable as a pod.

Also... sorry for the noob questions but, where would I get a panel filter? It seems like 7th gen mods and parts are non existant, at least in Australia.

its higly unlikely that a panel ALONE will produce much induction noise. maybe with the piping like i described but it depends.

i have read that the sound is actually air goin PAST the filter not through it, which is no good. my car makes no noise, do u want the noise? pretty gay imo. if you want noise stick with what you want, if u want an actual performance gain, go with a panel. up to you.

i sell K&N parts mate, ill pm you.
