Hi all just finished putting an oil cooler on and on first drive it feels like the car is slower?

Can an oil cooler aftect oil pressure due to cooling?
My cooler does not have a themostat for the oil cooler, but the car does not seem to be under heated as my water temp is always the same at halfway.

Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

yes it does, it depends on the size of the hose and the cooler. what size is yours?

hose is only 8mm or 10mm, cooler is only small about 20cm x 10cm

after you put the oil cooler, did you replace different size of the oil filter?

theere are only two sizes of oil filter for honda, always smaller size better oil pressure for all vtec

K&N filter for honda, its a 1006. about the same size as the OEM but better flowing.
Vtec doesn't seem to be affected it still vtecs.

I just tried it again doesn't feel as bad now. Not sure if i'm just imaging it....

I'll have to run it down the qtr to find out i guess.

It should not affect the power.

That's what i thought also, do you think though it would affect the oil pressure? doesn't seem to be low enough affect vtec though, but do you think it will affect engine running properly?

Also with engine oil will it still protect if the oil is cooler than normal?

unless you seriously ****ed it up you cant of made your car slower
with an oil cooler it does reduce your pressure so much so that vtec was cutting in and out in my car that the only was it can make the car slower
in the end i had to increase my oil pressure in the pump
i got a pressure guage and could see what was going on at all times

Skremn where did you put the pressure send guage cos i couldn't find a spot to put it.

If you can, buy one of this plate, it comes with 4 holes, 2 for the cooler hoses, and the other 2 are for oil temp and pressure sensors

yeah that's what i got but the position of the 2 holes caused issues as there ws not enough room

i have also got a filter relocation plate so alot of people tap into that but i have tapped into the mail oil line at the back on the block near the filter
its got the pressure switch screwed into it

cool gonna do that when i do my sump.

I'll patch into the main block up the top of the head for the pressure & temp. Will make it easy for me to install without hacing to pull the cooler off again.
