hard for me to get into gear from 1-2 during 8000rpm shifts. feels like a lil resistance, takes a while for me to get it into gear.
also when i have it in 5th, i tried to floor it, rev shot up, when back down again, then moved up slowly again. clutch worn?
how much to replace synchros ?

as for the 5th gear problem
correct me if im rong, but it sounds like a worn clutch to me
thatll cost u at least $1.2k for a new heavy duty, including installation
contact some of the traders, theyll have wat u need

define "hard to get into"
coz if it crunches whilst getting into gear 2 then yes its ur synchros. its f**kd.once your synchros are gone its not hard to notice, it crunches pretty bad when changing gears and it sounds horrible you can also feel it grind against the gear stick (well its feels like it is). downgearing into gear 2 you should have the same problem, my friend doubleclutches to avoid it coz his got the same problem with his 2nd gear as well.
approx. around the $1k mark from ultratune etc (they've gotta open up the gearbox). look around and get quotes you should be able to find it cheaper.
as for your 5th gear problem, yeah it does sound like the clutch, probably get it changed with a HD clutch for anywhere between $800-$1k+ it all depends on which clutch you get and where you get it installed.

well no, not crunching. i just cant push it in until like 1 sec after it (no fast shifting), mind you i can fast shift during normal upshifts.
it kinda feels like when you are driving and want to chuck it in 1st gear. the gearbox wont let you. so the gear is "blocked off" .. hope u get this

i get what you mean, but to me it doesnt sound like your second synchro is stuffed it sounds like:
1.**you've either got a rev blocker or limiter (where you cant shift to second whilst having highrevs) some of the new corolla sportivos have them.
2. its your clutch, it sounds like it slipping or its starting to go.
**im not sure if any hondas have these so dont hold me on it, but it sounds like a possiblity.
well take it down to your mechanic and explain the problem to him, ask him to test drive it and im sure he can pinpoint it. or you can try to do some tests that some fell OzHonda members have come up with to determine if your clutch is worn or not.

my 7th gen civic definetley has a rev limiter, that limits the revs at 7000rpm
BUT, ive never had trouble changin fomr 1st to 2nd wen shifting at 7k rpm
maybe sometimes u dont take ur foot off the accelarator fast enuf b4 u change gears? or mayb in haste, u didnt push the clutch down all the way?
i know its happened to me, and then i realised i was bein a noob and fixed it, but u say it happens regularly, so it most likely a gearbox problem, sounds like u really need to get it cheked out coz with a worn clutch and a screwed up gearbox, it cant be fun to drive, and maybe u shood ease up on the 8k rpm shifts??

Sportivos don't have that rev blocker. The gearbox 2nd gear synchros are very weak. My neighbour had his 2nd gear synchro replaced under warranty and how he can shift 1-2 fast at redline (8200rpm). Previously, he couldn't shift if he was above 6000rpm.
ah damn, yea 2nd gear synchro is wat i was thinking. how much would it cost to fix ? can u just replace 2nd gear synchro or u gotta do the whole works. cos i think he can shift fast every other gear at high rpm. would i be lookin at 1k?

oh i thought it was always a rev blocker, well thats what my mate told me that a few of them had this...im gonna kick his ass:p

There was also another issue that needed clutch adjustment on the sportivo. But once these fixes were done, the car shifts pretty smoothly.

Not sure, I haven't replaced one before. Try searching. I'm sure someone would have had it replaced before.

well considering what aarongg said that it could be a weak synchro (if thats really the problem, get a mechanic to look over it)
IMO i dont think its really worth getting fixed if its not broken (unless it is), unless you've got the spare cash and you want to shift quick etc :p , because the last time i checked to change the 2nd synchro the qoute was at $1000 (Ultratune)
well considering that the mechanics have to open up the gearbox and then replace the actual 2nd gear synchro
hope this helps

Why don't you try forcing the 1-2 shift for once. If it feels gritty and goes in, then it's probably your synchros. If you grind the gear and it still doesn't want to go in, it could be the clutch not disengaging fully.
