anything is legal..
it's whether it needs to be engineered or not..

have a read of the b16a FAQ..
i believe you only need to get your car engineered if it's over 10% displacement

...thats 15% increase in displacement (in NSW according to the RTA)
So , a 1.6 in a car with a 1.5 stock is fine.

is it 15% based on what your car has, or based on what the model maximum was. IE. EG came out with a 1.6L, so does that mean even though a civic might have 1.5L engine, it can be 1.6L + 15%??

ive been "told" via email this is so - i would assume its +15% of your current vehicles capacity. (not others of the same chassis etc)

You can fit an engine up to 15% larger as an owner certified
modification,(engine emission standards must be maintained)
modifications to the brake system would require engineering
certification.

I have attached a list of Engineering Signatories and a copy of VSI 6
Light Vehicle Modifications.

Once you have completed your mods you will need a blue slip from an
AUVIS for an adjustment of record.

Hmmm... Interesting... That means later on (lol try 5 years) I can stuff a B16A into my ride haha.

Just remember the Engine MUST be at least the same age as your car or newer. Older engines aren't allowed to be transplanted into your newer Chasis. Just a Authority rule we all have to live with.
