i've heard it's bad to wax new paint and to wait until the paint is apprx. 6 months old first.

now i dont know if your civic is 'new' as in (2006 model) or 'new' as in you just brought it but its second hand...

but if the paint is fresh its not the best idea to wax it...

others mite be able to confirm/dismiss this.

That's only for resprayed paint. Cars from the factory have the paint baked, so it is already cured. Resprayed cars can't be baked at the same high temperatures (your trim and rubber will melt), so it's not cured fully. But you are right, it's bad to wax resprayed paint. I'd wait 2 months minimum.
