Just spoke to 2 dealerships & they advise me you can not fit 17" rims from a 05 Euro Lux onto a 04 Basic Euro. !!

Please tell me this is not true!

The luxury rims from the 05 will 100% no doubt fit on the 04 euros. I think what the dealer was getting at is that they won't supply and fit them for you. They are now meant to be exclusive to the euro sports.

My advice is too look for a second hand set - youll have no problems fitting them

yeh, it sounds as tho they think that u want them to mix and match for you.
get the base model, and then source out the lux wheels privately.

i've heard that it also have to do with the suspension being a tad lower. But someone else please confirm

i think it has something to do with the turning circle basic model (such as mine) has shorter turning circle was wondering if larger wheel will create some disturbance.

but again, you don't turn your steering to the end all the time :) so screw it, i said PUT THEM ON they must look nice :)

wow REV888, you must really like those rims  (haha i like them too :) - congrats)

17" are perfectly fine for the euro, especially OEM wheels designed to honda specified width and offset.

differences in suspension and turning circle are largely insignificant

wheel arch gap when I measured it is the same between the standard and lux so I don't see how the suspension is 1 inch lower. 1 inch is a lot!

dealers wont mix and match, but i dont see any reason why it will not fit.

i have also heard the suspension set up is slightly different but if you're gonna lower it anyway there isnt a huge difference.

Is definately different suspension set up. I asked the dealer and they said the dampening was made softer for the lower profile tyres as well as feedback from owners that the ride on the Euro was too harsh.

Whether or not that is true or just an answer from a dealer for the sake of an answer I don't know.

Well Yfin not long till I can give you an answer. I am so curious to know how the ride will be with 225/45 17". But time will tell! ;)

Really? I think $1500 is a great price. I assume the tyres are in good condition though Rev888?

An even better deal would have been those beautiful gunmetal Honda 17" rims for sale I have seen in the for sale section for ages now. Drool...

fair enough - I measured using the "how many fingers" fit method so it is not precise. Maybe I am wrong but I think 1" difference between the models would be very noticeable. My car is dropped just over 1" (3cm) and that is very noticeable and is definately much lower than a stock lux.

EuroDude
09-06-2006, 09:58 AM
I think the standard euro's sussy is around 1inch lower because I have parked my Euro next to a Lux model with 17" wheels and I noticed quite a height difference - almost reaching 2 inches but I didnt measure it precisely.

I realise having 16" wheels would lower the car a bit compared to 17", but it seemed like there was something else other than the smaller wheels that made it lower.

Can anyone confirm this theory?
Maybe the workshop manual has some info :)

Rolling tyre diameter between the 16 and 17 is pretty much the same so "height" shouldn't change just because of the rim size.

The way I was checking any differences (this was when the 17s were just released) was just checking the arch gap with my hand - which is still huge on the lux! I wouldn't be surprised if there is some difference but I still maintain 1" is a lot!

EuroDude
09-06-2006, 10:13 AM
Yeah there was definetely at least a 1inch (2.3cm) difference when I compared the overall height (I didnt compare the arch gaps).

I'll check the workshop manual when I get home later. It should specify the overall hight, or at least mention the sussy differences.

did someone just say the susp on the lux is about an inch lower than the standard??

No the standard Euro's sussy appears to be lower than the lux.

Guys, you cannot compare a new euro with an older one (even if it is only 1 year). The suspension does sag and lower by about 1 inch. I just saw Bustersonic's 06 Lux, and his car is higher than my std 04. But give a year and his car will have the same ride height.

Anyway, it's the dealer pulling BS. Because look at the Euro Sport! It's a base Euro with a bodykit, black trim and 1/2 cloth 1/2 leather seats. And it has the 17" rims.

During March this year my brand new 06 std was compared to an 06 Lux side by side , and my car was considerably lower. At least an inch for sure.

Yfin, Picked up the rims/tyres and oh my! They are damn fine! worse part of all of today! Get ready for this. :(

On the way to pick up the rims a women hit my poor euro in the rear! need a new bumper! this is the 2nd time this has happened to me and the car has only done 26500km not happy. The brighter side of things with regards tyre condition there perfect brand spanking new! Plenty of tread to burn :p Very happy with purchase over all.

*laughs*

I have the 17" Euro Lux rims on my Euro Sport. And I say I love them :)
Take the hide out of the person who hit your car. I'd be sooo annoyed if it happened to me. Parking sensors / lights / rear underskirt / paint glazing redone (etc...) would cost a pretty penny if whoever it was wasn't uninsured in my case.

bummer dude. Did you brake too quickly or something?

I always brake slowly in the wet because there are so many n00bs on the roads, either not paying attention, with bad brakes, drunk, on the phone, nervous driver, P platers, etc...

Had 18"x7 on mine since the day I got my 05 standard. No issues, good ride, great handling- looks. Yeah they spewed on about Luxs are different susp etc for 17's but basically theres almost NO differnece. Just get the offset right. I got good quality lightweight alloys and that helps too. cheers
