Gday fellas,

i know this is gonna sounds stupid but i just need some info if you drive the same car as me, if this is happening to you

i used to drive a S13(FR) before my EK

im not sure where to start but...

when i drive the EK, the car feels really light and unstable..as in when i follow a curve along the road theres not enough grip on all wheels it sorta slides if its a bumpy road ,even when i am at the speed limit 60km/h.

all 4 wheels has brand new tires.
the car is a 98 EK1 hatch
kings lowered springs
manual trans.

everything else remains stock

anyone else with the same car having the same problem?

Try getting tie bars upper front & Rear & lower rear along with a swaybar and it will fix that problem

thx for the great input fellas...

i`ll just have to check the suspension, but yeh the shocks are working great.. and it isnt too stiff theres already a front strut brace in the car also..

but yeh ill definantly check out the tires and tie bar options

thx again guys

i had a 180sx and now have a ek1.
the ek1 feels alot more 'floaty' compared to a s13 because the s13 has a solid rear parcel shelf, and front and rear swaybars standard.
the ek1 has no rear swaybar, and a crappy boot cover. nothing solid to stop chassis flex.

yeah i got an ek1 as well...i totally understand you there, i did repalce my front shocks with koni yellows it fixed the job almost 100% feel alot more grip on the road and i'm sure if i got the back shocks done i'd feel alot more control...but yeah i definaltey recommend the koni's! awsome stuff!

theres already a strat brace for the front
but as honam pointed it out, it does feel floaty

i got a c-pillar strut in my ek1 and it seems to do the job

takes care of the parcel shelf problem honam was talking abt

best mod is to just lower the car
i had my car at stock height and i just got soooo much wind under it... then it felt like a boat
now its abit better
for cornering i've found the rear sway bar and tie bar to do wonders then
but now it feels so normal..

Have you tried getting a wheel alignment?

yeah only thing after is shocks and springs, wheel alignment won't help the floating effect. That mainly due to soft springs

dont spend money on strut bars mate.

get newer/better shocks.

the OEM shocks were built for a compromise of comfort and cost, not to be stuck under lowered springs and thrown around corners.

get some nice shocks and the get a wheel alignment

going to say something controversial here... i've found that on roads my car handled worse with aftermarket sussy such as koni yellows... irrespective of setting the springs rates dont seem right

EK4 stock sussy provided the best control on the road imho

well i can say with my 5zigen suspension the ek4 improved 100%, but then this was a ek9 upgrade so it had to be better. Good quality JMD parts.

Try getting a shock & spring combo from a reputable brand.

Ghost - yellows are damper adjustable right? maybe you just don't have the right combo, I know my koni adjustables before needed fine tuning to run well also.
