I've got the Pioneer AVH-P7550DVD. The model before the AVH-P7650DVD. It's practically the same unit with a few differences but majorly there's a cosmetic change to it.

Are you refering to the hide away box unit, which has all the preouts, inputs etc? If so, then you have a bit of a pickle. I've been told by my Pioneer Rep, that you can't buy them separately. Majority of the time, these units are stolen, but stolen without the hideaway box, leaving it useless.

is there a red flashing light to indicate there is memory when the faceplate is off? this would mean there is power going to the unit.

and yes i have asked and you need the unit to operate the unit. item code is DEQ-P7650. its a greysih box

hey guys,

just wondering if anyone would know. would i be able to use the hide away box from an older model or different model pioneer unit? I heard its all the same except the features in the varying models.

would i be able to use such units as CD-RB20 for compensate? doubt it but thought id ask

You want to use the RB20 to compensate for the hideaway box?

The AVHP7650DVD has its own hideaway processor or brain as we call it.

Without this you cannot use the headunit. You cannot hook up other processors to it.

Basically it is this simple you either get the right processor or dont bother.

The photo on the previous page was from the AVHP5750DVD totally different unit which doesnt require a processor to work. The dynamics processor in the photo attached to it is just for extra features.

In short NO PROCESSOR, NO IN DASH DVD PLAYER.

The processor shown (AVG-VDP1) is the Pioneer vehicle dynamics processor which is totally different to the hideaway box from the AVH-P7650DVD.
