Not sure if im postin this at the correct place
Has anyone lowered a civic hatch 01/05 with Kings spring (low)? i lowered my my car and the spring are to short for the standard shocks, its making bad noises. i have taken it into couple of places and they have all said i will need to replace the shocks or higher springs.
Can anyone help me? Are there any springs out on market that will lower my car with standard shocks? Has anyone had this problem before?
As i have seen many hatches 01/05 that is lower then mine, but not sure if they only lowered it with springs.
If anyone can help me will be great. Thanks heaps.

no,
there are no springs that'll lower your car that'll not affect the life of your stock shocks..
the best springs for the stock shocks are either stock, or aftermarket with the same height and the same spring rate or greater..
best thing to do.. is get coilovers or aftermarket shocks to accommodate the aftermarket springs
get something that s designed to to be lowered. and can handle thta shorter shock travel. do it rite the first time and u ll neva have to worry abt it again *cough my sig cough*

I came across this problem with kings - they woulndt make customised springs for me - get some springs maybe from US which have dead coils and then the active ones on top. While ur at it, get some aftermarket sports shocks as well.

if kings hav manufactured the springs for ur 01-05 hatch, they would hav been tested, or at the least b safe (ie not too short for ur shocks). altho lowering wth aftermarket springs on standrd shock will shorten the life of the shocks in the long run, it shouldnt hav tat much of an impact (assuming tat u've just changed to the kings recently? or hav u been riding on such settings for a long time?)
wth the noise u're mentioning..anymore description?
i've seen and know some 01-05 hatch riding on kings, they seem to b alright? (altho i havnt experinced the ride nor hav i heard any noises.)

if you get a squeeking noise you might have the wrap the closer compacted coils with spring wrap.

The sound is a very bad CLUNKING noise when turning and going on bumps. i have spoken to couple of mechanics and they all have said the spring are too short for the standard shocks. What they have said to me is there is no travel on them.
I ask if they are the correct springs for the car and they have told me its the correct ones for 01/05 hatches. i assuming if they are the correct springs then the co. would have did test on them and i wont have this problem.
I would like to know has any had this problem or even heard of this problem before? i had a friend that had the same car and used kings low springs and he didnt have this problem but he had changed it to tein springs.
Does anyone from theis forum know the item code for the king low springs for 01/05 civic hatch?
This problem is giving me the Sh#t's as my mechanic has told me that i will need to replace and raise the springs. The car is not low at all. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance, and thanks to teh ppl that as posted replys. Much appreciated

Wanting to know what brand springs people have used to lower there 01/05 civic hatch? And how is the ride and how low is the car sitting on the springs chosen using the standard shocks? Has anyone had any problems with lowering the car using lowered springs only?
As mentioned in above post, having problems with my king springs (low) on standard shocks.
Thank you, would really like to hear what others are doing or using to lower there 01/05 Civic hatch.

Hey riceboy, I just did a DIY on my accord and I get a cluhnking noise too. going over speedhumps, usually at slow speeds and its shitting me to tears cos i think something is going to fall off my car.
So i jumped onto v6performance.net (USDM accord forum) and the common problem was the rear sway bar not tightened enough. so , go and check to see if you have a rear swaybar. If you do, then tighten all nuts and bolts. Another problem is that the swaybar bolts could have been worn and need replacing (this didnt happen during stock sussy so that probs not the case). So firstly, tighten up the bolts and nuts and then see how that goes.

Dont forget to retighten/check all suspension parts after any install (DIY or professionally done) Sometimes even the strut mounts can loosen up and start to bang around under normal driving.

like above, all shocks were designed to run on a certain spring. That is the spring that it comes with. If the shocks do not have full height the damping effect will be reduced. Unless you buy shocks with the ability to use lower springs. Otherwise you have to live with the shocks not functioning properly. THe lower you go the worse the effect.
