would be a very simple swap. But (i'm not sure), would the boot struts still be able to lift the boot with the wing on?

the only thing that im not sure about is the actual wiring...
u'd have to cut the existing connection to the brake light on the spoiler and the boot.
the holes for both spoilers should all be the same
no additional holes are needed to be drilled if ur teg already has a dc2/4 spoiler.

Yes ~ the actual wing is very light and the boot struts are designed to hold the boot up pluds the stock wing (which i woudl think is the same or heavier than the ITR wing) - and also , as mentioned the ITR wing has no rear light so you would have to simpyl push the wiring back into the boot lid somewhere

u can unplug the wiring from the stock wing and wire it to ur 3rd brake light. it should have a plug as well.
thats wat i did

Are you guys sure an OEM DC2R wing will line up with the holes of other Teg wings.
I have been told they do not, a while back i was looking into carbon fiber type r replica wings and was told they do not fit a type r as the holes do not line up. Was told GSI wings had different hole locations.
Either way i think some drilling may be required

i have a jdm DC2R wing on my DC4, i had to drill out 4 extra holes in the boot as they didnt line up...they are marked on the underside of the boot so you will know where to drill, all the holes from my old factory spoiler are covered by the new wing exept the hole for the brake light wiring.
But it does look a lot better that the old stock one.

The only problem with puttin a Type-R wing on just a normal teg makes ppl who know what ur car is think it looks stupid.
Iv seen lots of DC2 hav DC2R wings n personally they make the owner look like they wanted a DC2R but couldn't afford 1. I'd suggest save the money n buy a real DC2R or use that money to work on ur engine, or other mods that way some1 in a DC2R comes up to ur DC2 n tryies to whoop u, but u just shuv it back at em'

I hate this crap... Do what you like on your!! car... They should not be put down for having a type R wing... So what if they want it to look like a type R..... The type R styling is very good and had alot of work put into it... Praise them for entrusting the factory honda technology and going oem style and instead of going for a big aluminium GT wing!!!
Let me ask you this... His car may resemble a type R, is it goign to look good?
yes... Are you going to follow him and and tell everyoen that thats not a real type R and therefore its crap?
Sick of the damn, his car is no good because it isnt a real type R and he obviously is a poor ass not to afford REAL type R. Be positive and dont rip on people for going a different direction...:thumbdwn:

Yeah I agree totally... if it ain't an "R", don't try to make it look like one. Personally, I reckon a DC2 with no wing is a much cleaner and slick look. Looks even slicker if you have a bigger rear bar and no wing. Type R wings should only belong on Type R's
Mikeyas
23-06-2006, 12:43 PM
hehe... Is that so you can raise your status above others that no one can look like a type R so that you look better ?
teggiboy
23-06-2006, 02:15 PM
i'm not saying that coz Type R's can raise their status... i'm just saying certain characteristics should only belong on a type r, ie spoiler. There are other ways to make a gsi/vti-r look better than a type r, ie wheels, bodykit etc.... but just don't put a type r wing on if it ain't a type r!! hehe

23-06-2006, 03:58 PM
Oh i agree with the you can make them look better! Can do alot of different things.. But if someone aint feeling the different things go the type R.. Tried and tested looks... Oem styling.... Maybe to suit the purists put on some Type Gsi stickers on?

Again, off topic posts by Mikeyas!
Original issue was:
Can a DC2R wing, FIT on a normal DC2/4 without drilling extra holes etc...
This is not a discussion about what looks better etc...its not asking for peoples opinions.
It is very simple, can it, or cant it fit!
I know you're only responding to Coponeinthenuts' post, however he/she is a newcomer, and you're a member - hence you should know better than to fuel another online debate - which has NO bearing on the thread at all!
You should know NOT to be influenced by such off topic discussions.

Im sorry Q-Ball..... Again my reasoning to the bickering is obviously misplaced. I mean the question was answered 10 posts back with various valid opinions on the matter allowing someone to find the point on the first apge.... Then shame on us very raising a related topic in the same thread saving the need for a seperate thread on the issue. shame on us...

Raising ones opinion or debating someone else's opinion about whether a dc2r wing looks good or not, is related in that its still referring to the dc2r spoiler, but is in no way related to its fitment.
Please keep in mind, its ok to start a new thread for issues that arise from the original discussion. Thats why we all have the ability to post new threads about any questions we may have after doing a search.
Put it this way, if a newcomer was to be readin through this thread, and the subject of the conversation goes from being factual to being opinionated and then back again, it makes the learning factor for someone much more difficult.

Thankyou Mr balls.
Original question has been answered - there is a fair bit of experience of the issue at hand. It can be done , and there are minor aesthetic issues with it (marks left over from of spoiler sticky stuff etc).
Please dont jump into offset chit chat in future guys .

I neva sed they had to do what I said, I was just giving an opinion as Q-ball had said the original question was different, but some ppl like to hav opinions about the look of a car before they do things with their car. I know I'd like ppl opinions about what to do with my car in performance and body styling before I did anything to my car, I just wanted to add my opinion to a difficult decision.
Many ppl can agree that they wouldn't want to spen money on something that makes u or ur ride look silly n that's just another reason y i wanted to add my opinion.
I'm sorry if any1 took my 1st post the wrong wa but this is a forum n opinions r allowed in forums, if i misunderstood about the rules of this forum ill b more mindful b4 i post anything in the future

no1 said u weren't allowed to give an opinion, you are right, this is a forum, and opinions are allowed, just either post it in a relevant thread or create a new one.
in this case, your opinion wasn't asked for, the original question was just whether a dc2r wing can be fitted onto a normal dc2. The answer is yes, simple as that. If the question was "what do you guys think about a dc2r wing on a vtir or gsi" then its a different story. if the original creator of the thread wanted opinions on how it would look, then they would have stated that in either their first post or the title.
Question has been answered, so i say close this thread before it goes even more off topic

I did it to my DC2, and i LOVE it:

I think it makes a huge difference (for the better) the standard DC2 wing is horrible. Either go DC2R or no wing at all.
I got a proper DC2R wing and had to redrill holes in my boot lid (they didnt line up exactly) but it wasn't that big a deal.
Cheers!

PANJAB: try searching thru the traders threads. AFAIK 'yanaka auto parts' have a few type R wings in stock which seem to be at a reasonable price.
i personally like the no wing and dumped look on a dc2. but it would have to have a front lip to pull it off.
look at ebay, there should have some.
