hey guys, ive had this noise coming from my clutch or somewhere related for about a month or so but has been getting increasingly worse, not sure if its due to the cold or something

im guessing its from the clutch as it only happens when my foot isnt on the clutch and when the clutch pedal is down the noise disappears, i spoke to some people and they seem to think its a bearing in the transmission somewhere thats on its way out...

could someone please help

It's your gearbox. Mine was making the same noise - its most likely the shaft bearing.

you need to change gearbox fluid, you probebly used the wrong type of fluid.

hapend with me make sure to drain it good and then add the right type of fluid, run it for a while and then drain it, do it couple of times and shill be good after that, it should fix ur problem.............

when you done just send me your medicare numbre ;)

If it is only when your foot is off the clutch and it is a whirring sound, then it could be the clutch throwout bearing.

people refer to it by a few names.. pivot bearing ? thrust bearing ?

yea the guy referred to it as a throwout bearing just thought i would get a second opinion, is this extensive damage to the transmission? does it need to be fixed immediately

It's the bearing that allows the clutch to spin eventhough you are applying a perpendicular force to disengage the clutch. As the bearing wears, the worse case is that it siezes and the clutch doesn't spin smoothly anymore.
