hey guys
i have seen advertised, a 1989 LS integra with B16A conversion for 3000aud.
now i went to look at it for a mate who found it. right away i noticed dodgies, looked like it had been in a crash (front ender), paint in some sections wasnt good, culd see a bit of overspray.
anyways it has exhaust- sounds nice, runs fairly well, although a road test wil be better but.
has also like a faded hedlight..
anyways
im sure i culd get it to 2500, or even as low as 2000.
but what i want to know is it it worth it.. B16A in a light car...
plus the car dealership wants to sell all their cars and trade in boats and caravans..
cheers

Hey, I have a B16A in an LS, it goes great but i am sure the motor would be better off in a Civic as its lighter :) 3K sounds very cheap, it could be a money pit if u r not careful. Cheers

likewise..
fun to drive but the LS isnt really that light.. people underestimate it as its only a 1.6L (even i did before i did the conversion).. but it has potential
2500 sounds too cheap.. but i guess you said the condition of the car is really shit.. who knows that the engine is like..
faded/yellow headlight is an easy fix.. just been discoloured with age and needs a good light sand/polish

fark... 3k is good
i picked mine up in april for 5.25, also in shit condition (gettin respray + needs new ecu)
just have the thing thoroughly checked out in regards to the engine and drive train, as thats wat would cost ya the most 2 repair. i made the mistake of rushin in2 it, but also realised i would put a fair bit of work in2 it to get it up 2 scratch.
gluck with it, b sure 2 post some pics

In my opinion - i suggest buying it as a parts car if you can get it for 2k. Find a da9 with a blown or high milage engine to do a swap.

What people dont really consider is the DA9 is around 15yrs old.. There is such a small percentage that a car of that age hasnt been in an accident. My car has been in 2 (1 being from me) and the car is steal great.
3k is dirt cheap.. Get a road test and spend the money you save on fixing it up.

i got mine for 3...but that was wholesale (long story), just remember though, if it IS from a dealership, they DO need to make a profit, they could of vrought the car for 1.5 grand or something becuase of the damamge or anything, and there gonna sell for 3. with private selling there isnt as much profit to be made as no-one is working to sell the car etc.
if i were u i would look at it closely, it may seem cheap at 3 grand, but what might u have to get for it in the near future? i dont see my car as being 3 grand when i brought it, coz i had to do some things to it (and now new engine) so that 3 grand has gone up. (but again, i got mine wholesale through a friend, the dealership got the car That day for 2.8 through trade in, and sold it to me for 3, even thoguh they were gonna sell it to aother dealership for more)
so just be careful, if you seem confident wiht it i say go for it. but again just be careful ;)

You will notice that most things will be an easy fix or just a simple replacement of basic tare and ware parts like brake pads, clutch fluids etc etc in the end you will be looking at spending a good 4k - 5k all up if youre planning to give it a bit of TLC also dont forget that Parts for these cars are a bit rare and can some times be hard to find in decent condition butrelatively cheap, also we are now seeing more and more aftermarket parts for the DA6s-DA9s and with the numerous number of interchangeable parts form other model Hondas such as DC2 Integras and Civics makes them a cheap car to mod, unless your name Happens to be Alex aka: Me! lol
The B16A has plenty of potential thats for sure and if maintained and looked after well it will last you heaps.
I'd say have a look around and see what else you can find, you might find a non Vtec model in better condition for a fraction more than 3k and if you want Vtec then drop a B16A in it, this may be more expensive than purchasing the car you mentioned but at least this way you will know what has been put into it. just my two cents of advice to you,
BTW dont forget that you get what you pay for which is so so true!
Good luck man ;)
