TOKYO, June 14 (Reuters) - Japan's Honda Motor Co. (7267.T: Quote (http://today.reuters.com/stocks/overview.aspx?symbol=7267.T&WTmodLoc=InvArt-C1-ArticlePage1), Profile (http://today.reuters.com/stocks/CompanyProfile.aspx?symbol=7267.T&WTmodLoc=InvArt-C1-ArticlePage1), Research (http://today.reuters.com/stocks/ResearchReports.aspx?symbol=7267.T&WTmodLoc=InvArt-C1-ArticlePage1)) said on Wednesday it would recall and repair a combined 561,594 units of the Odyssey, CR-V and Step Wgn models globally to fix a faulty ignition switch that could cause the engine to stop.
The recall and repairs would cost the company around 2.73 billion yen ($23.70 million), a spokeswoman said.
Of the total, 483,185 units are in Japan and were built between October 1994 and May 1997, Honda said in a filing with Japan's transport ministry.
Most of the recalls outside Japan cover the Odyssey minivan sold in North America. No accidents were reported overseas, while five people in Japan suffered burns from contact with melted ignition switches. ($1=115.18 Yen)

only a VERY small percentage applies to australia. i'm pretty sure this has already been posted and discussed before.

it just requires a quick check from your dealer to see if it needs a repair. from memory i can't remember us having to repair ANY vehicles at our dealership.
this same report was all over the tv and radio.... was completely blown out of proportion to the australian market (-_-)

look at the build date of those vehicles too... if it was gonna happen it would have happened by now!

Could be worse, like that exploding battery problem Hyandai had. Or the failing brakes Mercedes had.
