uk spec civic faster than aus spec?

was checking out the civic in honda uk site.. found that the uk spec claims it can do 0-62mph in 8.9sec...!! and damn, it has more features coming as standard which means it's heavier than the aus spec!!, how is it possible cause they're just running the same r18a engine??

the only reason i can think of is that their civic is running on 6speed transmission... 62mph means 99.78kpm and from wat i know, aus spec can only do 0-100 in 9.8sec??...

Well there are lots of civic's, so can you please state which one you are referring to as well as the what spec. it is.

R18a = 2006 Civic VTi
Well, the 9.8s comes from the VTiL, and different drivers pull different times.

well they do get the civic type rs where as we don't
