How much wheel kw does a stock DC2 Type R produce?

tofu R

probably 85-95 kw
depending on the state of the car ..

120kW (Myaree Exhaust centre, Perth)

mods:
short ram intake with pod filter
aftermarket muffler

Whoa! 120 kW at the wheels with those mods seems a bit high!

It all depends on the dyno and conditions.

Agree!!!!!! 120kw????????   A way too optimistic.

not really..
dc5r with buddyclub spec3 exhaust does about 120kw atw

figures don't mean much...
since we don't know whats in those cars

yeah, but i did :p

as i stated, it had:
short ram intake with pod filter
aftermarket muffler

the place they ran the dyno was full of V8 yokels (place that mostly works on falcons/commodores etc)
they were in shock to hear that the car could rev up close to 9000rpm
and even better was the expression on their face when they could feel VTEC in their chest

i felt it

nobody can say what it should make cos it varies heaps with each different dyno i have seen printouts from 2 dc2r's from RPM in Adelaide 1 was 89kw and the other was 84 (i made 83 so pretty happy with that!) they showed me the other graphs cos i thought mine was a low figure and queried it. I know that at the autop salon they have the dyno so it gives slightly inflated readings.. you should only think of a dyno as a tuning tool and not something to compare yourself to others (unless you both use the same one of course)

what does HONDA themselves say???

Different dynos, different atmospheric conditions will give different results to the same car.

Dyno dynamics usually give LOWER figures than other dynos like dynojet etc..

But if you use a similar tuner and dyno all the time, it should give you good gauge about your power gains (if any) for every mod.

By right, stock ITR should pull about high 90s to 100 plus kw at the wheel but this is dependent on age of car and engine, and condition of it.

Hope this helps

trust me..
88kw at the wheels....
if you say 120kw with just that bit's of mods...
may i ask...wat dyno they use?
and if is 120kw....can i see you run the car with a std ITR???...

if you have 120kw...you will take std ITR by at least 2-3 car length...

i'm quite sure it was a dyno dynamics dyno

my car isn't the ITR i'm talking about
i've got a GSi :p
the R used to belong to a friend of mine, Marz

car was sold last week and sent to the eastern states :(

but yeh, every dyno reading you get will be different due to many conditions as stated by kickthecancrew

the only way to compare one car up against another would be to dyno the cars on the same day on the same dyno, and at the same time ;)

Depends on dyno, conditions, etc.

My car is 2001 and is in almost perfect condition. I got 86 kw. You figure it out. Stock as a rock, although running rich.

And dyno figures count for nothing anyway. They're personal use only.

i ran a 135.7kw on a Dyno dynamics Dyno.

but this is in NZ. i hear that Ozzy dynos give a lower reading. why is this?

its cos of the drivetrain loss correction figure, and also type of dyno used.

ive seen a stock R pull 112kws once, nothing special but that same dyno i had 220kws from a simple turbo on my prelude.

Was it a Yellow DC2R that your friend got?

I saw a yellow R in Brisbane M1 with WA plates.

Yup, That's the one!

The car is cool, the driver is not.

u know the new driver?

is he preppin the car a racetrack?

baboo
12-05-2004, 02:21 PM
donno the driver mate,

he's got a few girls onboard his yellow machine and drive like a stupid idiot

rev up to the car in front, slows down and rev up again in a 5 pm heavy traffic afternoon...not wise.

don't think 17" rims are good for track work anyway.

but certainly what sounds like a nice car though.

look what he's gettin done to that R

1) Spoon Cams.
2) Mugen headers/exhaust.
3) Apexi Power FC
4) 4 & 6 pot Brembos.
5) Jun flywheel.
6) OS Giken clutch.
7) Apexi coilovers
