hey guys i was driving around this arvo and started to notice a clunking
noise coming from the engine bay. now later on this evening i was going out for a lap and noyiced it was a bit louder and also when you take it out of gear
and let the car roll the noise seems to be there all the time and reduses speed when the car is slowing down but when you put it into gear and accelerate the noise goes away. it also goes awy when you turn the steering wheel.
i thought it might be one of the mounts
can anyone plz help as i am lost..

might be ur mounts but doesnt sound like tat from your description
my pics would be
drive shaft, CV joints or even somthing as simple as loose wheel nuts

low or high pitch clunking? Would you say its closer to a clunking or a rattling?

it sounds like a hammer being tepped on the firewall

Agree with CV's but if it only does it out of gear it could be your input shaft bearing. Sit with car in neutral and put clutch in and release. If it does it when clutch is out, then possibly your bearing.

I would check it out before driving around.

Last time we ehard a clunking noise ( a mates xf fairlane) was clunking for about 30 minutes. on our way home the cam shaft blew out the side of the engine.
