you should find out about what is legal and what is not.

1 inch wider im not sure is illegal.

NO insurance company will insure you if your car is illegal.

Remember that what is allowable for cars is what is for the car with the greatest wheel size that is the same, ie, If a integra GSI comes with 14 X 5.5" rim, and the integra type R comes with 15 X 6.5" rim, then on my GSI i am allowed to put a 7.5" rim (IF THE LAW SAYS 1" IS OK, I AM NOT SURE ON THE LAW)

Did they release accords with bigger rims?

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrpdf/rdsafe/VSI%208.pdf this is the vic roads standards to modifications, in section 8 'wheels and tyres'. it says:
* the width of any replacement rim must not be:
- more than 25mm greater than the widest wheel specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that model or vehicle series; or
- less than the width of the narrowest rim specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that model or vehicle series.

*the overall diameter of any replacement rim and tyre must not be:
- more than 15mm greater than largest diameter tyre specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that model or series;

there is your sumwhat loophole. Did accords ever come with stock 16" or 17" rims?

If not, then you are unfortunately going to have to stick to thin rims...unless you want to take the risk. Most insurance companies wont usually care too much...but if they want to get out of it, then they definitly can!

edit - did some research and looks like they are all 15 X 5.5.

1996 20th Anniversay VTi-S (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.research_specs?vehicle_code=19960406.1 7:55:07&body_name=&year_max=&keyword=&model_name=ACCORD&cs_trans_id=&cs_segment_name=&seat_num=&search_type=21&engine_low=&selected_make_index=&price_min=&grade_name=&price_max=&door_num=&engine_high=&make_name=HONDA&year_min=1995)
1995 Accord VTi-S (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.research_specs?vehicle_code=19951114.1 1:41:49&body_name=&year_max=&keyword=&model_name=ACCORD&cs_trans_id=&cs_segment_name=&seat_num=&search_type=21&engine_low=&selected_make_index=&price_min=&grade_name=&price_max=&door_num=&engine_high=&make_name=HONDA&year_min=1995)

Thus to stay legal, you are right, and should be looking for a 6.5" rim. No insurance company will have a policy that says you can have illegal modifications to your car and we will still cover you.

Biggest i could find from tempe tyres was a 17" rim, looks like you are going to have to stick to that.

damn you people!!

1-2 inch rule IS A MYTH!!!! read you appropriate Roads Authority (Vic Roads/RTA/Qld Transport).

You can go however big you want (availability of tyre profiles permitting) as long as your overall rolling diameter is no more than 15mm bigger (3% speedo difference)

now using this site as a measurement guide:
http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

say FOR EXAMPLE the stock placard states 195x60x14 = 100%/100km/h = 589.3mm diameter

195x50x15 = Legal = 102km/h when speedo is 100km/h = 575.81mm = 2.33% Diameter variance
205x45x16 = Legal = 99.7km/h when speedo is 100km/h = 590.8mm = 0.22% Diameter variance
205x40x17 = Legal = 98.9km/h when speedo is 100km/h = 595.63mm = 1.03% Diameter variance
205x35x18 = Legal = 98.1km/h when speedo is 100km/h = 600.45mm = 1.82% Diameter variance

Now with actual rim width... i doubt very much your model accord is beyond 1200kg therefore the maximum width allowance is +1inch making your maximum rim = 7inch. This rul does not apply to tyre width hence the suggestion for 205s = 8inch

Any more questions?!?!

oh yeah yes you can get insurance.....

seriously dude, read the law in the link he posted above...
stop rambling on about diameter, cos we are talking about width.
Know it might sound like i am starting trouble, but you come in here talking like we have no idea what we are talking about, and you do...but really...you dont.

He posted a link above, the law says, 25mm larger than the largest rim specified by that manufacturer for that vehicle. So far, the best we have found is 5.5"...nothing to do with weight of the car...

Do some research and find a rim bigger than 5.5" on an accord, thats what will help this guy.

it's a jap car catalogue and i'm fairly confident you model came out with a maximum 6' width. The site is currently down, if someone manages to check before myself and i am wrong so be it and falme me with the bad rep point.

and yes 25mm = 1inch

i need to now if there was an accord released for AUSTRALIA that has a wider wheel than my 5.5"..... this means i need to find an accord that was available for australia......an accord for international countries isnt acceptable...as they might not meet australian standards....a link to an australian site would be better... if u could find one ..thanks
