Hey guys,
In a few months i will be getting a complete colour change on an EG Hatch.
ATM i wanna go with championship white, the only thing that may change my mind is by looking at the painters colour charts and picking otherwise. Im pretty confident i will go with championship white though. I've looked at sooo many different paint jobs recently and keep coming back to white.

Now, i wanna spend hopefully about $3000 but will probably spend a little more if i need to. I just want a fantastic job done. I will also strip the car completely myself and remove the engine etc. This way the labour costs can be spent on making the paint better etc, rather than the things i could do myself. Im hoping i dont have to go over $5000, but will spend that much if it is absolutely necessary, it will just take longer to save.

So has anybody had any good experiences or know of reputable paint shops, hopefully professionals who have been in their trade for a long time and are great at what they do. I dont mind spending money. Just want a quality job.
Im from Geelong but will take my car to melb because i think that there is more options and most likely much more experienced spraypainters in melb.

Im just doing my research at the moment. This will be happening towards the end of the year most likely. It will definately be happening though. I'm just wanting some shops as starting points to look into.

Thanks.

i think you'd wonna look at a shop with a proper oven and specialise in car respray....

especially with the money your willing to spend no doubt you can get an awesome respray with that money just gotta find the right guy....just go to different shops and check out the place and what they've done before making any conclusions...ie. car oven, dust free room etc....

dont know of any place exactly but yerr

if you have insurance, use them
scratch the car allover, then go thru insurance,
and instead of getting the same colour just change it, they wont care
then if need be, which i highly doubt, pay a bit more to get like engine bay and doors jams done

P.S: Which insurance company u with

yeah but then the premiums go up, and then you have a record of claiming insurance etc.
might as well pay it out.

I thought of the same thing when my car got keyed a couple of weeks ago...i rang my insurance company anonymously wanting to find out the process of making a claim if by the chance ..............were to happen, i got told that if i made a claim, with not knowing whos fault it was, ie.some one hit me and i have thier details, then it is still considered an at fault claim.
ALSO, if you make a claim without having someone to blame, you pay your excess which if your on your P's is massive for our cars, your premium will go up the next year because your rating will go down by 2!!! me being a rating 4 paying $1300 a year on my insurance for a dc2 vtir do not want to go down 2 ratings and end up having to pay $2000+ for the next two years to even get back to my same rating now...
end of the day it is not worth going through your insurance company to fix anything unless:

You stack your car bad
Have rating one for life and dont mind having a claim against your name to fix your crappy paint for the cost of your probably $450 excess at your age, or
Have some one else to blame your misfortune on
sorry for the long write up but just so everyone knows
IT'S NOT WORTH IT

man thats true,
but i should of made it more clear,
Go thru insurance if you have rating one for life, or get insurance under parents name, like me, where its about $800 full comp, i have a 99 ek, with few mods (front bar, wheels, exhaust, lowered, system) all covered
And if something happens, like ur car getting scratched, just get ur parent to ring up and say this and this happened

Like someone damaged my car like dints and a few scratches, and i got that fixed thru insurance,

Its just up to the owner on what they want to do

Me too guys.

Im not gonna do an insurance job! lol

Im thinking of maybe a fresh respray in frost white (colour the car currently is). This way i can save a little money and spend it on other things and still have a new paint job. (Either way the car needs a new paint job).
