its alittle thick for honda. Hondas are usually rated at 10w30.
If you wanna use mobile 1 use the 10w30 its the Mobile 1 Gold bottle.
They also make the moible one elf gold which is 5w30.
The only prob is that the bottles are like $80+ for each 5ltr bottle

it won't hurt the car but you will feel its abit lagging as the oil's alittle think. SHould protect better though.

If you use 10w-30 and you are burning oil, then you might qualify for 5w-50. In the Honda manual, it only shows oil viscosity range from 0w-20 to 15w-40. So I don't think 50 is safe, unless you burn lots of oil because the piston ring does not seal well. Even if 50 stops the burning, it would be too thick to lubricate the cams, rockers and crankshaft & rod bearings.

i think you'd be fine to use it. a 5w-50 isnt going to be too thick to lubricate the engine. it simply wont thin out as much as say a 10w-30 at operating temp. therefore, it may not offer as much "performance" but will still provide fine protection.
in fact, i think it would be ideal for car with your milage as will give good protection and easy start up.
i'm sure there will be more opinions on this

I agree 1/2 and 1/2. Because 50 will be good for worn piston rings. But it won't be good for the high precision parts such as the cams and bearings.

5w-50 oil would be too thick for daily use
the oil will not be able to circulate easily around the engine
unless u run your engine hot.

one grade up for our engines are fine, so something like eg 10w-40
I think in Japan, NSX and Type R uses 5w-40 Honda Oil, too bad we cant get it here.

I've noted that all 100% synethic are generally 5w40 and not many 5w30. Anyone heard why this ist he case? It it cos the synethic too easily burnt? in a 30 weight?

I predict that it will be smoother than mobil and cold starting in winter will be better since hydrocracked oils then to leave a film on the surface unlike PAO (Mobil1). But you still have to change it after 6 months as it doesn't last as long as a PAO. On the upside, it is cheaper.
