Do you mean a Nissan Bluebird SSS? Those things aren't that quick last time I checked. Too heavy for the engine.

I have seen many GL's beat GLi's, but i doubt a GL could beat an Si.

what do they weigh? my friends crx with the non-vtec twin cam(D16 Whatever) can beat them(almost the same engine as SI right?).

Since when was the EG twin-carb????? The last of the Aussie twin-carb Civics was the ED 4th gen with twin sidedrafts, the 5th gen was a single downdraft I thought (Breeze).

D15B4 ? GL 1.5 Litre twin carb right?
That's what mine is anyway, and it's an EG 1992.

But yeh the only way the GL would beat the SSS is if it is a shitass driver and he/she gets a bad launch etc.

Oh ok - I thought it went Breeze, GLi, VTi, Si

I must have mixed up the GL with the GLi.

Tough call, in an ED6 with the D15B I gave SSS's a run for their money. But the ED6 was lighter than an EG. The SSS has a strong motor but a heavy chassis - my guess is equal stakes or the SSS would just get its nose ahead. An Si or VTi would stand a better chance.

sorry did i miss something but why have u started talkin about new import laws???

My Si didn't keep up with SR20DE's ... don't know how everyone elses would.

2L and a lot more power to boot, + a stronger engine they can pound it more.

SSS's are pretty quick. a crx (with ZC) would beat one though simply due to how light they are. an si or vti would be pretty equal but the sss would start to pull away after a while. that extra torque helps. but back to title of topic..... twin carb and twin cam is not something you can compare. one has to do with fuel/air delivery the other with valve timing

mmm, iim only talkin from experience with 2 encounters with sr20de's, one was from the s13 silvia, and other in an n15 sss. both cars had no chance vs my EK4.

how does this relate to this EG discussion??

well bennjamin, with his mighty ZC powered Si, has beaten me, even tho it was only a nose infront, it just shows its possible if ur a good driver

ummmm not likely to happen. I ran my mate in his eg gl hatch and mine a eg gli sedan and i have had it over him every run and i know my car isn't fast. Then i run my mate with a 93 pulsar q with a sr20de in it and i go no where near except till bout 4000 rpm in first lol .

Pulsar SSS will be quicker than the EG Si, but i'd say the CRX with the ZC will be quicker (mainly due to less weight).

i've only beat my mate n14 sss once out of the many encounters we've had. it gets even worse on a highway drag. he just got more torque and power.

The SSS may have more power but its got a lot more weight to off set thats why the CRX will kill it. I know this as I have beaten many SSS, and by quite a lot. :D

yeah it does CAT_SPEW
the pulsar Q is the N14 model l fink....which has the SR20DE
so does the SSS. Both have the SR20DE

Thats it it was a option back then. Also no power windows and other extras sss come out with so lighter

If its an n14 (especially a Q, but obviuosly u said SSS) it will own you
of its an n15 it beat you
lol

I have a GL twin carb, d15b4, on a lighter than urs, 4th gen. They put out 98bhp at the fly, not 94 kw.... I beat pulsar plus' and other 1.6's and 1.8's but I raced an n14 Ti (sr20de) and it smashheddd me, first gear got 3/4 car length, he smacked it in second lost LOTS of tractiopn and still broke 1 and a half car length in front of me

that was stock. Dont underestimate them by any means

MR-VTEC
13-05-2004, 06:11 PM
yeah i agree. they are a quick n/a car and i reckon the sr20de's definetly have it over the zc's

N14 Ti isn’t that auto  I’m sure all the Nissans that have a Ti badge are auto. (Could be wrong I’m not a Nissan expert but I’m sure all the ones I’ve seen has been auto with a Ti badge)

Now think of a n14 with a 150kw sr20dev. I think it is the neo engine, that would be a very good na car. There was 1 for sale a while ago for only 12 grand i think. Dnt hold me for the figures i am trying to remember about 6 months or more ago.
