Basically the EKx is the chasis code of the car... like an id. EGx is the chasis code for civics from 92-95, DCx is for the Integra (DC5 is current model, DC2 is previous model) etc etc...

not entirly correct :eek:

ek1 = all aust delivered EK (both Hatch and sedan) CXI or GLi with d16y4
ek9 = civic type r hatch - b16b
ek4 = civic vtir hatch 96-98 - b16a
EJ8 = coupe vti 96-98
EM1 = coupe vtir 99-00
oem = original equipment manufacture

then again seach is ur fren .. been covered to death,:thumbsup:

When people refer to something being OEM. It means its genuine honda parts (If referring to a honda). When you walk into a spare parts store of a honda dealership.. most the parts there are OEM.

Other terms you may here are JDM / USDM / AUDM / UKDM etc
They are similar to OEM.. The DM stands for Domestic Market, whilst the beginning is the country of its origin..
i.e. JDM OEM Headlights would mean that the headlights are genuine honda parts and that they come from Japan.

There are way too many chassis codes that it takes a while to remember them all, you will pick up alot of them once you read over alot of honda info.. Dont stress too much.

You own an EK1 (as mentioned before, all oz delivered EK's are this apart from the EK4 and coupes), so that is easy to remember.
EK9 = JDM only, cant get here in Oz.. It is also known as a CTR (Civic Type-R). Awsome car with many extras including a B16B engine.
EK4 = next best thing as CTR is not available here (well it is very rare anyways).
EM1 = Same as EK4 pretty much but in a coupe
EJ8 = Similar to your car but in a coupe.

There are many, many chassis codes...
EG, EK, DC, EF, ED, EM, EJ, AP, BB, DA, EP and many more, within those codes come different numbers to represent different models aswell...
i.e. DC2 = 94-00 integra, DC5 = 01+ integra

So dont feel embarrassed to ask what these names/codes are.. i doubt there are many people, if any! that would know all the honda chassis codes.
