Hey guys just bought mine not to long ago (delsol) and have noticed that it dosent want to go into 1st gear whilst the car is moving,I have tried a few different methods but nothing seems to work ? just wondering is this normal or do most of you guys get into 1st while moving no problem ? cause im thinking its the car or it hasnt been serviced properly or something ? any advice appreciated thanks

try revving your engine before putting it in first

how fast are you goin???

Anyone with a b16a in their car should be able to tell you cause they'd have the same/similiar gearbox

Why do you want to go in to 1st when moving? Theres no need to. Only use 1st if at a standstill. If your moving just leave/put it in 2nd.

quite normal so nothing to worry about :)

simple - you might be moving too fast, its a safety feature in a way - so you can't accidentally pop it into 1st and bugger up your gbox. You have to be rolling very very slowly for it to work.

mine does the same... anything over 15 mph, and you'll pretty much never get it in.. under that, requires a good bit of the ol rev and shift

yep normal, the car wont let it go into first, as said above safety feature
but if u really want it to go into first while moving (not recommended), rev match

yea mate. Ive had 3 b16as, they all do it. Its a little bit of a bother sometimes having to come to a complete stop before you can chuck it in first without forcingit... or as the others say, i quite oftern rev match it

i think this comes down to a driving ability issue more so than a delsol related issue.
you made a thread a while with regards to drivin manual...have you taken any lessons?

I think its the b16 boxes.

I noticed when i drive tegs (ive driven many including ITRs, VTi-Rs, GSis), and the ITRs especially do not have this problem.

not just the b16's... my d16 does the same as did my old b18 powered gen 2 crx

i was jst about to say, its fair common across the board...i have the same issues with my b18b.
you jst cant slam it into 1st without getting the revs right.

its common to alot of cars, not just honda. My 300zx had the same thing. I still don't understand why you need to use 1st while your moving?? you can almost hillstart in second gear with a b16 LOL

With the right technique you don't need to slam. I just put my gearbox into 1st at 40km/h (and no, I did not release the clutch. I am not stupid). Just testing out the gearbox "lockout". I'd say that I could probably put your car into 1st at 40km/h too as long as I use the right technique.

well guys ive been driven for about a month Im getting there slowly,my mate has a civic gli and he puts it into 1st at 30km-40 easy with no problems.
Im asking this because there a times where the car is just very slowly crusing and its just about to stall however I cant come to a complete stop thats the scenario, whats best to do just ride the clutch there or ? but with the b16a are you guys saying it can be done as long as you have the right technique or theses boxes wont allow you at all no matter what you do ? thanks again

Ive tried practising going to a car park and say at about 10km, pop it in neutral then blip and try putting it into 1st at the same time and no luck however it did work once but it was more than a blip had to get the revs to about 4 rpm which im guessing is not right ? or just a fluke lol

1st gear at 40kms is about 6000rpms.
why would u want to do that...

2nd gear will be sufficent if ur travelling really slow and just want to speed up even if ur going at 30kms

yea what happens if cruising at 10km ?

Advice:
Until you get the hang of things, dont use 1st gear unless its when you're taking off.
When slowing down, go down to 2nd, and stay in 2nd whilst ur braking till you're at a complete stop.
As zelda has pointed out, cruising at low spds in 2nd gear is fine - the car should not be stalling at 20km/hr in 2nd gear.
Keep taking those driving lessons man!
Once you have more experience with rev matching etc, THEN worry about puttin the car into 1st gear to slow down at a high-ish speed.

yea what happens if cruising at 10km ?
if ur just cruzing at 10km/h like in bummper to bummper traffic then dont take it out of 1st
