VSS?? i purchased a apexi rsm off one of the ozhonda members not realising that i have a cable driven speedometer and was wondering if there was any way of connecting the rsm so i can get a speed reading on it, i have a haltech ecu also

ok

you still have a VSS, but it is in the cluster

it will pulse 4 times per revolution

is your car OBDI or OBDO ( i think it might be OBDI )

you can find the vss signal on the ECU as below

OBDI B10 (yellow/blue ??)

OBDO B16 yellow/red

alright, if i go out to the car and start at the distributor - i'm pretty sure this is still standard wiring and hasn't been redone, what colours am i looking for here or wrong place?? im not sure if this will affect anything but i have a b16a engine instead of standard, sorry if i keep asking stupid questions, im not that great with car electronics

do you have a cable speedo pick up or a VSS ( vehicle speed sensor )

leech

it is cable driven

is it the stock obdo wiring loom? to the ecu?
and your rsm wont be dead on. It will vary as much as +- 10ks between numbers.

from the ecu it is a different loom but im not sure if it then goes to standard wiring or new stuff, i cant c why the mechanic would replace all the wiring but you never know, i didnt get the aftermarket ecu installed i bought the car with it in there. ecu-man said something about a vss in the cluster if its cable driven or did i read that wrong???

is there anyway of converting my cable into a electronic speedo? like from a later model gearbox?

ECU-MAN
23-06-2006, 09:48 PM
your cable speedo still is electronic

the VSS is in the cluster instead of the gearbox sensor

look for the yellow/red wire

leech

yellow/ red wire in the cluster??

ECU-MAN
23-06-2006, 10:11 PM
the yellow wire will come from the ECU OBDO pin B16 and go to the cluster.

tap into it and to check you have the right one you should get 5v turn 0v turn 5v and so on as you rotate the front wheels.

ok thank you very much, i'll look for it in the morning, if it is there what do i do after that?

ECU-MAN

connect it to the vss input on your RSM

the singnal coming out from the VSS in the cluster is the same as if you had one on your gearbox.
