Do something on an Automatic 1996 HONDA Accord (CD4) to become manual look.

Ingredients:
Screw driver
Gear knob
and some leather or cloth

First Unscrew the oringinal gear knob

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/innoz/1308s.jpg
Then try to remove the panel (2 screws under the cup holder and 2 under the panel) for CD4 only

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/innoz/1304s.jpg
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/innoz/1303s.jpg

Then unscrew another 2 screws on the gear box bottom and one screw in the ashtray.

Now, you can move the gear box bottom a bit and put the clothing or leather u prepared before.

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g270/innoz/1307s.jpg

Fix everything back and try will the cloth come out or else had to screw it harder.

At last you will get like this

damn man, that is awesome!!! What i want to do is not the manual look , but shorten the auto "stick" so the knob itself sits closer to the panel. I hear that you have to be real careful cos u might permanently 'lock' the gear if u accidentally cut something else.

WTF ahaha. Guess you have to remember what gear is in which location plus tell anyone else whos driving your car. Bit too "i like to pretend im driving a manual" for me but eh whatever floats your boat.

ah yes the good ol manual gear knob, i used to have one of those because it looked cool and it would really stuff people up as they look at the pedals at the same time haha!:p these accords have the transmision displaying in the instrument panel so its a good mod. also cops dont know what to think if ur on your p's with a auto licence!

how do you do it if u have more then one button. Like 2 buttons. Like the DA9 LS Integra. 1 button two get for park to whatever and a S4 button (its like a over drive buuton)???? or can't you do that???

i think you should also remove the auto console plate aswells so the gear boot sinks down more.

I've herd that it can be illegal to do this modification because if someone has to use the car in an emergency they won't know how to drive the car...good mod though haha

Yep i got a defect for doing that to my mazda a while ago. At first the police didn't believe meit was auto as a didn't have any buttons on there. I used to press the whole gear knob down and it had a spring so it popped back up. I had to show them that it only had 2 pedals before they believed it was auto, and than they gave me a defect as the PRND21 were covered up :(
