Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum having just bought a second hand 2003 accord euro 6SMT, lowered, 18" G.max rims, Blue callipers. I've noticed that while idling and accelerating from low REV's, theres a ticking sound that seems to be coming from somewhere around the intake... I had honda listen to it and they said its the fuel injectors pulsating.... Now I've owned a couple of cars b4 the euro, all fuel injected and none of them made that sound. Is what honda's saying true ???? or should I try another dealer ?
thanks !

Both my Civic and Euro have that throttle body/intake ticking noise and have heard that this is normal for virtually all Honda car engines. Its just a design trait and nothing to worry about. :)

Thanks Euro dude ! you've just saved me a trip to another honda dealer !
I must say the worst thing about having bought my honda is having to deal with those dealers. They treat you like they know it all and you know nothing ! arghhhhh
Anyway thanks again !! :)

I notice some tick noise from the engine or around the engine bay area...... after I track only for around 10 laps it. will this cause some serious issue at all? Should I go to Honda and ask him to fix it? Can I claim the warranty at all as I got some mods on my car like injec CAI, exhuast, coilover, brake..... (no engine work)
I never notice the noise until I stand next to my hood

How many kms has the car done, you might need a valve clearance adjustment..

Now that is going to be a problem, it really depends on what modifications you have, they will do almost anything to try and link the idle noise to your mods.. I'll be careful with them... Good luck

in the worst case, how much is the value gap adjustment usually cost?

when i bought my car second hand from a dealership it had a similar noise. Took it to honda for a service and an inspection. They removed 6 bent valves. 3k later, all good. Hope you aint bought a lemon like me.

No more than 1 hour labour. It requires no parts and only takes around 20 minutes at the most.
-Remove rocker cover
-turn engine to TDC
-Adjust four valves
-turn engine 180
-Adjust four valves
-turn engine 180
-Adjust four valves
-turn engine 180
-Adjust four valves
-reseal and put back the rocker cover

Funny you should mention that, it is the precise feeling I always get when talking to any sales person, very polite but the balloon above their heads says
"Just another idiot of a client I have to suffer" perhaps we should start a thread on this. I thought it was just my Honda dealership!

adagio...
I dont know which dealer u go to but mine is the worst ! I got into a whole fight with them a week ago about oil... I rocked up with my own shell helix ultra and I politely asked them to use it... I knew they wouldn't do it willingly but the crap I got from them was beyond a joke ! in the end they refused to do it, saying they dont wana be liable for any engine damages... I told them I was an engineer as well with many years experience in designing aircraft engines and I'll take full (in writing) responsibility for whatever happens... in the end they bascially said we'll do it but they won't fix any engines problems under warrenty if it does come up. so I said fine I dont wana service my car today and left. I took it to another mechanic down the road who does lots of Bemmers and Audi's and he said he gets a lot of honda customers cause they r fed up with honda prices and service. Anway it all worked out ok in the end.. I will never be going back to a honda dealer and if something does need to be fixed under warrenty, the mechannic says he deals with the dealers himself to get it done so I dont have to worry about it. I hope not everyones experience with honda is as bad as mine !!! cause appart from the dealers, the car is the best I have driven so far !!! :)

what is turn engine 180?
There is a socket behind the front left wheel where you turn/crank the engine manually using a long breaker bar to move the pistons/valves 180 degrees to position the tappets for proper adjustment.
My mech cheated and only rotated it 360 degrees at a time, causing weird engine performance which required me to do it myself, which is quite easy to do once you know how

Good on you for going somewhere else  Many Honda owners would just take the dealer line and back down. If i was you I would call up the Honda Customer Care number and complain.
Oh by the way - I went to a Perth Honda Dealer with 5 litres of Shell Helix Ultra (5w40 i believe - not the thicker 15w50) for one of my services. When I asked them to use this oil for my service the response was "it is good oil - no worries".
